Connecting with the AI-ML engineering students at Nagarjuna College Of Engineering and Technology was a fantastic experience and a couple of hours well spent. We shared valuable insights with these bright minds about the corporate world and discussed how they can bridge the gap between industry expectations and their academic offerings. We also had the opportunity to catch up with the HOD and Professors and have some great conversations. The future of education is upon us. This fall marks the launch of a 3-year engineering programme "Industrial technology"at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, a pioneering initiative (https://lnkd.in/dQZ-Ru-C). Every facet of this program is crafted in close collaboration with industry stakeholders. A notable feature is its flexible structure, comprising a foundational base year followed by specialized tracks.? Among the four available profiles is "Materials for Circular Flows," offered by the Department of Materials Science and engineering. Here, students will hone their ability to integrate material expertise with considerations of social, economic, and environmental factors in material selection.? "Our aim is to educate engineers capable of making informed decisions regarding material choices for various products and applications. They will possess a keen understanding of when it's feasible to recycle or reuse materials instead of extracting or manufacturing them anew," explains profile manager Anders Eliasson.? IEEE student volunteers from Canara Engineering College were appreciated for their outstanding efforts in the Jigyaasa initiative by IEEE CASS Bangalore Chapter at the Annual General Meeting last week. As part of the initiative, two teams of Women in Engineering volunteers mentored by senior technologists worked with two girls from Govt PU colleges. Ms. Prapti Poojary and Ms. Teja R. Naik, supported by the ECE Department and Ashwini Holla and Mr. Sreerama Samartha, guided Ms. Shifana and Ms. Prajna from Benjanapadavu PUC to develop an IoT-based project for monitoring the health of bees in a hive. The top 10 teams, including this project, presented their ideas at WintechCon on November 13, at Radisson Blu, before an audience of over 2000 senior engineers and technologists from the semiconductor industry. Special thanks to CEC, the ECE Department, Prof. Kavitha, Principal, and Dr. Sandhya Rani, Prof. Chemistry Dept, Benjanapadavu PU College, for their support in making this initiative a success.

It was fun to see the end semester exam of 2021 conducted in a slightly different way. Tell me how you felt. Normally, the teacher prepares questions and the students answer them, but IIT Goa has come out with something different. In a novel approach to evaluate students, the institute asked its students of ‘analog circuit’ course to prepare questions from lecture material by themselves and then answer those. Out of the total 70-mark ‘analog circuit’ question paper, 30 marks were for preparing the questions and 40 marks for giving the answers to the questions the students had prepared. The question paper mentioned that the questions set by the students should reflect their understanding of the course. The engineering institute had also asked its students to not discuss questions with friends, failing which they might lose marks. #IndianInstituteOfTechnologyGoa
