Outstanding article, Milford Beagle, Jr ("Beags")!! Some very good points made on the importance of creativity, cooperation, and collaboration to Army continuous transformation. Conceptually, these could be laid on any (non-military) organization that values transformation and growth. #disruptivetransformation #disruptiveinnovation #disruptiveleadership #visionaryleadership #enterprisetransformation

There’s so much to love here and notice that is germane to the #ussf mission. The question it prompts is “how might we continue to grow a Sentinel-Steward’s warfighter ethos?” C-Note #16 makes it crystal clear that guardians have a dual function: to protect the security AND prosperity that the nation derives from space. Like the Greek demigod Bootes, we wields a spear in one hand (security) and a sickle in the other (prosperity). A Sentinel-Steward who is confident and competent at deescalating violence through the application of credible force. One who is not only healthy but has a mastery of angle/speed/distance to “tap out” the competition while allowing them to save face. These guardians who graduated from the Carson combatives course have a different relationship with pain, fear, and suffering now. Semper Supra.
Being a #Guardian means being ready to fight in any situation. Check out the story of these SpOC Guardians who took on the @U.S. Army Fort Carson Combatives Facility's one-week basic course! https://bit.ly/3SavaoC #USSpaceForce #SpaceForce #SemperSupra #ViaVincimus

80 years ago this week: As October 1944 came to a close, the 34th Red Bull Infantry Division and the rest of the US Fifth Army in Italy were beginning to suffer from a severe personnel shortage. With the immense casualties from the France campaign adding to those in Italy, the Army's replacement system was no longer keeping up. According to _From Cassino to the Alps_: "... the prospect loomed ever larger that un-redeemed battle losses would ultimately bring both the Fifth and Eighth armies to a halt. During the six days from 10 through 15 October, for example, the four infantry divisions of the II Corps [including the 34th] sustained 2,491 casualties. When combined with even larger losses of the first nine days of the month, the prospects for the future were disturbing. While some of the losses could be made up by men returning to duty from hospitals and by replacements trickling into the theater, the theater's replacement pool that had served so well since the beginning of the Italian campaign was for the first time showing signs of depletion. If losses continued at their current rate and the replacement pool was not replenished,[Fifth Army Commander General] Clark warned [British Field Marshal] Alexander, the Fifth Army's offensive toward Bologna and the Po Valley would fall short of its goal." Each of those losses contributing to that total number had a name. Here are those from just one Regiment of the 34th Division who gave the last full.measure of their devotion during October, 1944: 135th Infantry Regiment [including 2nd Battalion 135th Infantry Regiment] MASARIK, RUDOLPH J. 42010514 PFC E ORAZEM, PETER J. 37552498 S/SGT E SWILLEY, WILLIAM D. 34795060 PFC E (continued in comments)

Corporal Jason L. Dunham, was a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps - the lowest of the non-commissioned officer ranks. After high school, he enlisted from Scio, New York, inspired by a sense of duty and a desire to serve his country. Three years later, on April 14, 2004, a convoy carrying Dunham's Battalion Commander came under attack near Husaybah, Iraq. In response, Dunham's fire team intercepted multiple vehicles headed toward the the scene of the attack. As Dunham's and his comrades approached one of the vehicles, a Toyota Land Cruiser, multiple insurgents dismounted with AK-47s and began to attack the Marines. In response, Dunham, began fighting with the insurgents in hand-to-hand combat,?at which point, one of the fighters dropped a hand grenade. With disregard for his own safety, Dunham made the decision to cover the grenade with his body, shielding his fellow Marines from the blast. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions that day. Punch Line: It's possible to be assigned the title of "leader" and it's possible to earn it - through actions that inspire and protect others. It's also possible to do both. This week, consider ways in which you might further earn the title of "leadership", regardless of it's part of your assigned title. Like Dunham did. Author's Note: Operating a business is not war. I think it's important we remember not to convolute the two. I write these post in hopes that we can harness the contributions of our vets and apply them to create better, more fulfilling lives. #Veterans #veteranmentalhealth #writing #military -------- If you enjoy content like this, consider subscribing to The TRANSITION on Substack. https://lnkd.in/gW2vP5pw

Wars fought on a grand scale with global consequences are made up of countless smaller battles and events. For the men who fought, bled, and died in them they are not small--those little pieces of war--and the personal aftermath and their effect is beyond measure. One such battle pitted a North Vietnamese Army (NVA) battalion of 700+ men against the men of Company I, Third Battalion, Ninth Marines, Third Marine Division. Of the seven officers in the field at the beginning, only three walked out. I was one of them. I was 24 years old, and this was my first significant combat experience and surprisingly, what happened--what I was called upon to do--was something I never imagined. What came afterward defined me for the rest of my life. The fighting lasted six hours, and toward the end, we were almost out of ammunition. Those few hours changed forever the lives of the survivors, including me, and the next of kin of the men we lost. That battle was the crucial event in my life; an ultimate What Now, Lieutenant? moment that taught me so much that came into play in other such moments in my future. True, they would not be as traumatic as what I experienced as a lieutenant, but they were moments that whether I was a lieutenant, major or general, each forced me to call upon my experience, knowledge, training, and common sense to respond appropriately. That phrase... that question with all it entails and how one responds when it's asked of them... seemed to fit best as a title for what you're reading now. Seeing that question in the eyes of the men on Hill 70 that day is how I learned a most valuable lesson about leadership over the course of a bloody day in Vietnam. Everything that happened to me after that day is now seen through that prism. --Butch Neal #usmarines #military #defenseindustry #memoir https://lnkd.in/g495pXkm

?????????????? ??????????????????: ?????????????? ?????? ???????????? ???? ???????????? The first Joint Pacific Multinational Readiness Center (JPMRC) exercise of FY 2025 is in full swing, with over 9,000 troops from the 25th Infantry Division, U.S. joint forces, and 9 partner nations. This is not just another exercise – it's a glimpse into the future of Pacific operations. Led by the 25th Infantry Division’s 2nd Light Brigade Combat Team, this exercise incorporates new technologies, tactics, and formations that could redefine how we engage in tomorrow's battles. From rapid infiltration exercises to multi-island combat simulations, it's a comprehensive test of coordination across diverse terrains, stretching from Hawaii to Palau and Guam. Brig. Gen. Kevin Williams emphasized the importance of lessons learned: “We’re testing the tactics and technologies of the future – and sharing insights across brigades to ensure continuous improvement.” This exercise not only sharpens the skills of the 25th ID but also lays the groundwork for future deployments, including Operation Pathways next year. 'The Noise of Battle' by Tony Colvin, now available in a new edition, offers a detailed examination of the British Army’s final breakthrough west of the Rhine in early 1945. Focusing on the critical Rhineland battles in February and March, this book provides a clear and comprehensive look at one of the last major operations of World War II. Structured in three main parts, the book first outlines the key battles (Part I), including The Battle of the Rhineland, The Battle of Kervenheim, and The Battle of Winnekendonk. These chapters offer a step-by-step analysis of each engagement, with clear maps and tactical overviews that highlight the challenges faced by British forces and their adversaries, the German paratroopers and infantry. Part II shifts focus to those involved, providing insight into the various military divisions, from the 3rd British Infantry Division to the 8th Fallschirmj?ger Division, as well as civilians caught in the conflict. These sections are enriched with personal accounts, offering a human perspective on the war’s impact beyond strategic movements. Finally, Part III, Why? An Explanation, explores the reasons behind the operational decisions and outcomes, analyzing the broader military strategy of the time. This section provides crucial context for understanding the importance of the battles west of the Rhine in shaping the final phase of the war in Europe. Souvenir! In memory of the 100th anniversary of the Armistice (11 November 2018), we had launched the ‘Unknown Face’ for the Historial de la Grande Guerre, with FRED & FARID ?? . We had created a face by superimposing 60,000 faces of Great War actors from all countries: - infantry soldiers - alpine hunters - nurses - airmen - artillery - telegraphs - etc. We developed an algorithm that allowed us to crop all the portraits, average out the measurements of all the faces, distort all the portraits to this average and then average out each pixel colour to obtain the ‘unknown face’. It's an operation just the way we like them: Technology at the service of a powerful message!

Highly recommended viewing. A view from the ‘sharp end’ is a difficult story to tell.
The BBC series “Our war” is returning to the BBC for a second airing. The documentary depicts the infantry combat that took place during the war in Afghanistan. Recent history is an important part of our Regimental tapestry and there are always lessons we can learn and take away. The Regiment was heavily involved on this documentary. New Episode ‘Our War: 10 Years On’, plus three of the original programs: Thurs 14th November BBC2, 9pm - Our War: 10 Years On Mon 18th November BBC3, 09:95 - Ambushed BBC3, 22:30 - Caught in the Crossfire BBC3, 23:30 - Return to Death Valley https://lnkd.in/e6bkub2z #RoyalAnglian #Afghanistan #veterans #soldier #OurWar
