GNB’s baffles are also called multi-coolant baffles because they can be chilled by a variety of liquids. While they are often used in conjunction with a chiller, they can be used with cool water, liquid nitrogen and other liquids. Their most common use is to trap contaminates in a vacuum system. One such contaminant is oil from a diffusion pump. In the high vacuum range, molecules of diffusion pump oil can wander from the pump and contaminate the vacuum process.
