Cybersecurity experts have detected two vulnerabilities in open-source Wi-Fi software used in Android, Linux, and ChromeOS devices that could deceive users into connecting to a fake network or enable an attacker to access a trusted network without a password. The security flaws, known as CVE-2023-52160 and CVE-2023-52161, were uncovered during an assessment of wpa_supplicant and Intel's iNet Wireless Daemon (IWD). I've been doing lots of 'Public Wifi' hacking research whilst I've been 'off' with sleep problems (seriously never thought I would need to give myself time off due to lack of sleep that wasn't just from incident response!) - sharing this because sometimes life is not all roses and it might help people on here (vs the usual linkedin nonsense of how amazing everything is all the time! wonderful darling!) Schools faced more ransomware attacks than hospitals or governments faced in 2023, according to research from Emsisoft. Districts were targeted more in 2023 than they were in the previous two years combined. Because of the heightened risk, schools need tools that provide security directly to users without further straining IT budgets.
