New Year’s Resolutions and the Business of Change Every January, millions of us make New Year’s resolutions: we promise to exercise more, eat healthier, or take up a new skill. Yet by February, many of these goals fall by the wayside. Why? Because lasting change doesn’t happen from good intentions alone—it happens when we integrate it into the fabric of our daily lives. The same is true for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). DEI isn’t just a pledge to do better or a training session scheduled once a year. It’s a commitment that needs to be embedded into the strategy, culture, and operations of a business. Much like the gym membership that goes unused unless we make it part of our routine, DEI initiatives falter when they’re not tied to measurable goals, leadership accountability, and day-to-day decision-making. As we begin this new year, let’s move beyond DEI as a checkbox or buzzword. Let’s make it a lived value—a constant part of the way we lead, hire, promote, design policies, and engage with our communities. Real change is purposeful. It’s sustained. And it’s transformative when we make it integral to everything we do. It’s hard not to feel the weight of what’s happening right now. DEI is under attack, and many of you have reached out, asking “What do we do now?” The resistance we’re seeing is real, and it’s frustrating. This work has always been about disruption, evolution, and innovation. That hasn’t changed. Leadership isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about being agile, learning, and adapting when the road gets tough. We have to ask ourselves: How do we keep showing up? How do we keep pushing forward when the system pushes back? Here’s my recommendation: ???? Keep disrupting the status quo. ???? Evolve how we show up in workplaces and in our communities. ???? Innovate, finding new ways to push for equity and inclusion. This is the work we’ve been doing, and it’s the work we’ll continue to do. Adversity has always been part of this journey, and what matters most is how we rise to meet it. #ReworkWork #DEI #Leadership #InclusiveWorkplace #CommunityMatters #InclusionAtWork #InclusionWorks #LeadWithInclusion

In the last six months I have travelled and worked extensively in North America and Mexico, and I'm back again at the moment. The people I have been working with have included some incredibly brilliant executives of Nasdaq listed companies, and some loving, collaborative, clever, and capable women from Peru, Mexico and North America. This has been inspiring for me personally and for the Dattner Group team. What we stand for, our expertise, and our deep and abiding commitment to supporting an approach to leadership that builds a sustainable future has been central. However, more than anything else, I carry forward the power of personal agency, particularly during turbulent times.
