Check out Leadership Now Project work on Citizens' Assemblies as a key priority for democracy innovation!! Citizens’ Assemblies, also known as Civic Assemblies, are a form of deliberative democracy where a representative sample of randomly selected citizens come together to learn about, debate, and influence government actions on public policy issues. These assemblies can be organized at local, state, and national levels, providing a platform for diverse voices to contribute to the decision-making process. Citizens’ Assemblies have been successfully implemented for nearly 50 years across Europe, Asia, and South America. Particularly in Europe, they have become an increasingly accepted part of local and national governance. Research consistently shows that Citizens’ Assemblies decrease polarization, increase trust in government and society, and enhance personal agency among participants. Leadership Now has a working group of business leaders dedicated to helping catalyze Citizens’ Assemblies in the U.S. https://lnkd.in/e4m2gBbG #unify

Is comfortzoning is the new Racism?? ????The communities that matter in Africa and are successful and popular are the Turkish, Lebanese, Indian and the incredible African diaspora that has sent $100 Billion in 2022, making them one of the most successful investors. ?The majority of Diaspora and bridge communities into the biggest single consumer market of the future are equipped with soft skills, needed to be successful in Africa. ?Many people in the diaspora have fresh and good ideas and many organize concepts to bring the topic closer to the mainstream. ??If you speak international, you are state funded and your leadership team looks like a snow bunny reunion, my uncle Horsts Schutzenverein reunion or my aunt Hildegard’s Kegelclub, should you be allowed to call yourself international and claim to educate businesses about African markets ? ??If you have been snobbing an event with African government officials because a diasporan organizes it, isn’t that not doing your job based in exclusion ? ??What are you saying to the world, when you speak about Africa but can’t incorporate the most strategic stakeholders? Best of all you are saying there is not one smart to find and add a Lebanese, one Turkish or African in your leadership team? ??Maybe the root of the problem with all the deskperts is in the end simple? ?? Between the famous coffee travels (Kaffeefahrten), an occasional token Black person at one of the absolutely out of touch conferences and cocktail receptions, I am saying today that comfort zoning is the new racism. In the spirit of the Olympics Congratulations for gold medals in comfortzoning to the most uninternational leadership teams ???? Madeleine King, while you're in Japan meeting fossil fuel execs, they will tell you that 'Japan needs Australian Gas' and that 'Australia keeps the lights on in Tokyo'. The truth is far from it. We don't need Australian gas. Here's what the experts are saying ?? Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA) recently reported that Japan's LNG buyers have a surplus problem. Japan's gas demand has been and will continue to decline, meaning that JERA, Kansai Electric, Osaka Gas and Tokyo Gas are now over-contracted. We fundamentally don't have any use for more Australian gas, so you can't continue using Japan as an excuse for destroying pristine Tiwi country by developing new fields like Barossa. Now that we've established that Japan doesn't need this gas, what's it doing with it? It's onselling it to Southeast Asia and making a HUGE profit. Data Desk recently traced a shipment of gas from Australia delivered to Thailand, enabled by Japanese companies at the export terminal, shipment, right through to the import terminal in the notorious Rayong region in Thailand which is known for human rights abuses and intense pollution. Instead of helping them develop cheap, clean, locally produced renewables, Japan wants to lock countries in Southeast Asia into gas to make a profit. Your Australian gas is enabling Japan to do so. We don't need Australian gas. Japan doesn't need it and neither does Southeast Asia. We want a safe future, a safe climate. We want to live. Listen to us, don't listen to these fossil fuel execs.
