Despite the strain on their community, some Haitian and long-time Springfield residents are coming together in church to heal. In Springfield, the influx of workers to fill job vacancies has led to a strain on resources and increased rent prices, negatively impacting long-time residents. This pattern of events, with resources lagging behind needed workers arriving, is not unique to Springfield as it has occurred in other communities as well. Storm Lake, Iowa, is an example to explore. ? Preparation for such an influx is critical. We must plan for the predictable strains caused by an increase in population to ensure the well-being of both newcomers and long-time residents. Allocating resources in advance for affordable housing, language services in schools, and incentives for attracting essential workers can help prevent conflicts and reduce intergroup fear. Investing in proactive measures is crucial. By addressing these issues before they escalate, we can promote unity and lessen the impact of racism and division in our nation. Let's work together to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for all residing in our country. Modern slavery is happening right here in every corner of the UK. Anyone can become a victim of modern slavery and that includes British citizens. Imagine if you had to flee your home because of war or discrimination or accepting a job offer to keep your starving family alive, pay for your mother’s medical treatment or keep the drug dealers from hurting you, only to find yourself working for no pay and threatened with violence to you or your family if you run away. People like that are in every town, village, and city in the UK, often hidden in plain sight. Which is why it is so important to spot the signs of modern slavery. These young lives are caught in the crossfire, making them some of the most vulnerable in the world. ??? Today, we turn our attention to their rights and the urgent need to protect them. How can we, as a global community, step up to ensure that children in war-torn regions are shielded from harm and given the security and support they need to survive and thrive? ?? Where is HomeSafe Alliance? I’m at the International Association of Movers Conference this year and went looking for HSA to get questions answered, but they are no where to be found! No booth in the exhibit hall. No personnel walking around to talk with. Should we really expect anything more from them? For a company who has said they need the people at this conference to participate to make program work, yet they can’t be found. They need to build trust within our military community, yet they won’t turn on commenting on their social channels, they won’t return emails, they won’t communicate, but we’re suppose to trust them with our household goods. Why won’t HSA answer questions? Why won’t they be accessible to the communities they need and the ones they are suppose to serve? Is it because they don’t have answers? Is it because they realize they can’t do this? Is it because they are cowards and don’t really care about our military community and only care about the money flowing from Transcom?
