"We Indigenous land guardians bring millennia of forest expertise and, frankly, values that are far more in tune with what the planet needs in this season of crisis. Funders bring material wealth that can deploy to strengthen our organizations, advocate for national policies that value Indigenous guardianship, and keep our communities safe." A call for funders to better support the world's best conservationists--Indigenous Peoples. https://lnkd.in/gQmFFy7Z

“When conservation organizations and Indigenous communities work together towards the same goal, they're a powerful force.” We need to "find common ground and balance that transcend cultural barriers, that transcend cultural barriers. THE ROLE OF INDIGENOUS PEOPLE IN SAFE GUARDING THE OCEAN Indigenous peoples play a crucial role in safeguarding the ocean. Their deep connection to the land and sea, passed down through generations, instills a profound respect for the environment. Through traditional knowledge and practices, Indigenous communities have long understood the delicate balance of marine ecosystems. One key aspect of Indigenous stewardship is the concept of reciprocity - the idea that humans are not separate from nature, but rather interconnected with it. This perspective guides their sustainable use of marine resources, ensuring that future generations will also be able to benefit from the ocean's abundance. Furthermore, Indigenous peoples often serve as the first line of defense against environmental threats to the ocean. Their intimate knowledge of local ecosystems enables them to detect changes early on and take action to address them. From monitoring water quality to advocating for marine conservation, Indigenous communities are at the forefront of protecting our oceans. In order to effectively safeguard the ocean, it is essential to recognize and respect the rights and knowledge of Indigenous peoples. By partnering with them and supporting their efforts, we can work together towards a more sustainable future for our planet's most precious resource. #thefutureisnow #Indigenouspeople

The Atlantic Forest Association is a women-led Environmental Non-Governmental Association established in Brazil, focusing on fighting climate inaction through conservation and educational efforts around the severely devastated biome of the Brazilian Atlantic Forest. The remaining patches of the Atlantic Forest are thought to hold an incredibly diverse biome, with plants and species largely under-researched. They are also located in the vicinity of some of the most densely populated cities in Brazil, and critically protect water supplies to cities such as Sao Paulo, among other crucial benefits. We have three main pillars: Biodiversity preservation, Environmental Education and Socio-economic. We believe they are tightly linked and must address all three for successful conservation efforts. Initiatives such as the camera traps monitoring, immersive experiences and workshops, and building the local community via the 'Direto da Ro?a' - a group of small producers in the region -, are creating a real impact. Change cannot happen fast enough in light of climate change, and we have an ambitious multi-year plan to build climate equity and knowledge to contribute to the new decarbonized era. #conservation #biodiversity #atlanticforest #atlanticforestassociation #preservation https://lnkd.in/e86bBwHu

Who cares??? We all ought to CARE ??♂? Wetland are not wasteland!!! These ecosystems groomed humanity through their services whilst also self-replenishing for ages, Myriad of forces are acting on these precious pieces of ecosystem and shifting the balance, resulting in their fast-paced destruction. This implies reduced services to human, Yes some factors are beyond human capacity, however, anthropogenic deeds have a larger share of the damage. Young environmentalists are welcome to convene and deliberate on : How can sustainable wetland utilization be achieved. #wetlands #wetland #WetlandsandHumanWellbeing

Today, we're proud to embrace the powerful slogan for this year's #DesertificationAndDroughtDay: 'United for Land: Our Legacy. Our Future.' This theme recognizes the crucial role that land plays in our lives - from supporting ecosystems and biodiversity to underpinning our economies and communities. The slogan challenges us to reflect on the legacy we're creating through our actions today and the green future we envision on land. Engaging present and future generations is more important than ever to halt and reverse land degradation and meet the global commitments to restore 1.5 billion hectares of degraded land by 2030. Let's unite with the UNCCD, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, and communities around the globe in a shared mission to champion land restoration. Together, we can turn the tide against desertification and drought, ensuring a healthy planet for future generations. Act for our legacy, our future. ???https://lnkd.in/eiGJb5sF #United4Land
