Artists are #MakingBlackHistory everyday by using their art as a tool for new visions of the world! Here are three artists to follow this Black History Month:? ? Gesiye (she/they) is a multi-disciplinary artist from a Nigerian-Trinidadian family, who uses performance, tattooing, installation, and image-making to explore embodiment and storytelling as forms of liberation. ? ? Kearra Maya (they/them) is an anti-disciplinary visual artist from Carpichaima, Kairi, the larger of the twin island state of Trinidad and Tobago. Their work exists as a result of and in conversation with various social movements across the Caribbean and its' diasporas. Lehna Huie (she/her) is a multi-disciplinary artist of Jamaican heritage born in New York City. Lehna is committed to uplifting stories of Black identity as a means to explore international connections among the Pan African and Caribbean Diasporas. What artists are you celebrating this month and beyond? Let us know in the comments!?
