Glioblastoma Awareness Day (GBM Day) occurs each year on the third Wednesday of July. Initially introduced to the Senate in 2018 by a bipartisan group of U.S. senators in response to the death of Senator John McCain, GBM Day is dedicated to increasing general awareness of Glioblastoma, which accounts for almost half of all cancerous brain tumors in adults. EBCI is dedicated to ensuring that all patients diagnosed with brain cancer, a brain tumor, or metastatic disease to the brain have equal access to advanced diagnostics, FDA-approved treatments, specialists and clinical trials. We believe that IMMEDIATE ACCESS to these options provides the patient community with the best HOPE for survival and sustained quality of life. We advocate for policy and care improvements while echoing the patient’s voice in clinical trial protocol. We partner with industry, patients, researchers, advocacy groups, medical teams, hospital networks and others to educate patients and their caregivers with a focus on next generation sequencing so they can have empowered conversations with medical teams. So this is Multiple Myeloma awareness month. Most people only hear of multiple myeloma when they or someone they know is diagnosed with it. It's where cancerous plasma cells build up in the bone marrow - and often people are only aware they have it when they have bone pain..there are other more vague symptoms. In my case, a sneeze that caused rib pain, that wasn't going away, resulted in diagnosis and a treatment journey that began in November '22. Multiple myeloma is incurable, a word that is hard to hear. But it's treatable and that treatment has significantly improved, resulting in remissions and the prolonging of life - sometimes resulting in years of normal living. There is real optimism that there might be a cure down the road. Continued research and clinical trials are vital to better treatment and cure for all cancers, including multiple myeloma and it would be my hope that such treatments would be available to all patients, not just to those who have won the geographical and economic lottery. https://lnkd.in/eN7dxbn2.

Founding what is now known as the MPN Research Foundation.?
