Seven of our direct cash programs were among the 10,000 terminated by the U.S. State Department order last week. This abrupt elimination of 90% of U.S. foreign assistance is devastating for the millions of vulnerable families meant to receive aid. For GiveDirectly specifically, it means about 38,000 families across Mozambique, Malawi, DRC, and Morocco will no longer receive life-changing cash transfers this year unless we can raise funds to fill a $20M gap: GiveDirectly.org/aidcuts We’d already put in the upfront costs to prepare these programs, but now lack the cash to send out. We’re able to fill some of the gap with emergency funds, but currently only have enough to reach a fifth of those families. If you’re in a position to give, your donation will leverage past work and reach impacted recipients faster: GiveDirectly.org/aidcuts These U.S. cuts are a significant blow, yet we're fortunate that most of GiveDirectly's funding comes from other sources, putting us in a position to meet the urgency of this moment. While the needs in the communities we serve have only intensified, so has our commitment to supporting the world's most vulnerable families. Consider giving below ??
I'm grateful for the wonderful work which Give Directly is doing all over. I personally have been a member and follower of Give Direct right from Uganda and even here on this page. Thanks for the services you offer ????
I'm an avid donor and will continue to do so. I love Give Directly's approach of just giving, and see it as an obligation to share the great privilege that I have had the luck to be born into. However, this post made me think. Not as a critique on Give Directly or as an exemption of giving. But will trying to make up for lost USAID not prove Trump's point that those funds could be cut? Shouldn't we, in more fortunate positions, be giving regardless of what happens to USAID, while simultaneously demanding the return of USAID? Even with USAID we did not yet manage to stop poverty. Just a thought. Love you guys from GiveDirectly, you do amazing work. ??
Even in the midst of worst situations. sustainability, transition and resilience are strategies we can't run away from. Only those who have been there, witnessed or experienced such situations know how this critical aid is a livelihood/life saver irrespective of the form or quantity. #diversificationresillience
Once again I'm Ap.A.jonathan Mbayo from Uganda, Uganda,a follower of Give Directly right from Uganda and even here on our page . It might not be right for me to post this on our page but I apologise. I'm truly stuck about the life of my adopted son who was bitten by a poisonous snake 5days ago. But in case of any help rendered to us. May the Almighty God bless you abundantly. For more info. My WhatsApp number is +256779916202. Thanks
this is why Capitalists For Shared Income will never take any government funds … we were founded to be a 100% private solution. It’s shocking how many nonprofits have been affected by the decrease in government spending.
let keep the sharing
Give direct is a solution to poverty , the only thing they missed was civic education to the beneficiaries . I proposed if they can fund civil society to carryout training on the used of funding before distribution here in Kenya to avoid wastage
GiveDirectly indeed doing an impactful program
