Quickly set up #QGIS projects with detailed and widely used basemaps. Two effective methods to add basemaps in QGIS: 1. Adding XYZ Tiles via Python Script: Utilise the qgis_basemaps.py script by Klas Karlsson to integrate basemaps directly into your QGIS Browser Panel. A one-time setup grants access to various basemaps, including Google Maps, Esri, Bing, OSM and more to all your QGIS projects. 2. Using the QuickMapServices Plugin: Install the QuickMapServices to access an extensive catalog of basemaps. Steps : Navigate to Web > QuickMapServices > OSM > OSM Standard to add the standard OpenStreetMap basemap. Expand Basemap Options: For more basemaps, go to Web > QuickMapServices > Settings. In the More Services tab, click Get Contributed Pack to access additional basemaps. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are powerful tools for managing, analyzing, and visualizing spatial data. Python, a versatile programming language, has emerged as a popular choice for GIS applications due to its extensive libraries and ease of use. In GIS, Python and its libraries are widely used to manipulate and analyze data, to automate repetitive tasks in GIS workflows, to generate custom tools and plugins, to create interactive web maps and data visualizations, to convert addresses into geographic coordinates, to enable network analysis and routing, to conduct spatial analysis and predictive modeling to name a few. The app below shows just a snippet of how python can be used to create apps for Geocoding and API tools for route mapping. This is my iteration of the app composed and presented in the 'Mapping and Data Visualization with Python' course by Ujaval Gandhi.
