?? Reflecting on an incredible experience at the Female Founders Rise Growth Summit in Edinburgh this Thursday! ?? I had the privilege of hearing from so many seasoned speakers who spoke from their hearts and shared valuable insights from their journeys. One session that left a lasting impact was with Sahar Hashemi OBE, whose passion and motivation were truly contagious. She said something that struck a chord with me and is so relevant for any founder/intending founder: ?? "If you wait for the fear to go away, the opportunity will go away, so LEAP and it will appear." Such a powerful reminder to act boldly and embrace opportunities! ?? I also had the chance to join Ozlem Tuskan's workshop on Scaling beyond imposter syndrome—a topic that resonates deeply with me. For those who know me well, you know my struggle with imposter syndrome. It was comforting to see other women relate to this, but even more eye-opening was Ozlem’s insight on how to leverage it. I’m excited to dive into Sheryl Anjanette's book "The Imposter Lies Within" which is now at the top of my reading list! Another special highlight for me was attending Sam Smith's session, especially because her background in financial services aligns so closely with my own experiences. It was beyond inspiring to see the possibility for women to "superscale" their businesses. ??? And of course, Dechomai Ltd was proudly represented as a community partner, with Bayile Adeoti FRSA as a panelist during the live strategy session, which featured real-time pitches and expert advice. Seeing that live feedback was just amazing! To top it all off, I had the pleasure of attending with my sisters Ndetu Shamaki Lisah Kangoni Alice Gababyat Mo Foresythe and meeting many more strong, inspiring women who are making waves in their own businesses. ???? Was delighted to be on a panel with Laura McGinnis, Chantal Cox and Annemarie Donegan earlier on this week invited by PitchBook for the launch of their inaugural "European All In Female Founders in the VC Ecosystem" report. There are signs of progress being made, with the amount of capital invested in female-led businesses increasing year on year, but progress is relatively slow... ?? All-male founding teams in Europe have raised more than €10bn in funding every year since 2015. By contrast, all-female founding teams have only passed the €1bn milestone once, in 2021.? ?? Women make up just 15% of the decision makers across Europe's VC firms. Proud of the 200+ firms that have signed up to the Investing in Women Code, which includes 170 VC firms but there is still lots more to be done to drive change across the whole ecosystem! The Women-Led High-Growth Enterprise Taskforce has identified 7 opportunities to break down the barriers faced by women when starting and scaling high-growth enterprises, whether it is access to fairer funding, or to much-needed advice, role models, and resources (see comments for link to full report). 1. Ensure that “women-led high-growth enterprises” are truly led by women 2. Improve diversity of senior investment professionals 3. Increase signatories to the Investing in Women Code 4. Drive inclusive behaviour through regulation, monitoring, and action by investors 5. Roll out Female Founder Growth Boards across the regions of England 6. Inspire girls and women to become high-growth entrepreneurs 7. ?Improve data collection and research Let's all work together to drive change, innovation and growth!

This photo is not only iconic but also very powerful to me. It made me think of the female founders I have supported for many years, such as Sophie Cahen, Barbara BELVISI, and Charlotte Pouchy, who have built incredible businesses and strategic partnerships. I backed them from the very beginning. These are my personal investments, by the way. I was a co-founder with my friends Bruno Maisonnier, an iconic entrepreneur who invented the NAO robot 'Pepper,' as well as Michel Bonnin and Tarik Aitsiselmi. ?? Looking at the broader landscape for raising capital, it is not easy, with funding rates for women at under 2%. According to Fast Company, 'VC firms with at least 10% female investing partners have 1.5% better fund returns and 9.7% more profitable exits.' There are not enough female investors either, with only 11% according to Harvard Kennedy School. Why invest in women? Women founders are great visionaries who can provide a different perspective and innovate. They can serve as role models for the future. I am proud to see my two daughters in medical school and pursuing a master’s at polytechnique Alumni. I hope to see more history being made especially to empower women of future generations!
