Wow, what a year. Even amidst so much uncertainty and chaos, I’m centering on the incredibly beautiful and transformative moments of my 2024. Wanted to share a few highlights: ???? January: Kicked off the year with an unforgettable bachelorette trip to Ghana with six of my besties. My girls came in from all over the world to celebrate and live my little Detty Decemba dream at AfroFuture Festival. ?? February: Completed onboarding at UnitedMasters and hit the ground running by partnering with our investors at Andreessen Horowitz. Together, we conducted primary research that powered our sync sales strategy and music licensing marketplace. ?? March: Stepped into the role of editor for the first time, telling the unique stories of emerging artists like AmiraUnplugged, Ekkstacy, Brent Faiyaz, and BigXthaPlug. Collaborating with music journalist Daniel Kerry to bring these journeys to life was a creative highlight. ?? April: Joined forces with sister company, award winning ad agency, Translation, a company I dreamed of working for back in college. Together we rebranded UnitedMasters music licensing business. From positioning to a new tagline, visual identity, brand anthem, website etc. https://bit.ly/3P9qazo ?? May: Wedding planning consumed my life... ? June: Had major breakthroughs in therapy. I can’t recommend therapy enough. ?? July: Celebrated a huge win by securing Walmart as a partner in UM’s sync business, opening more doors for independent artists to earn through licensing and brand deals. ?? August: We launched Debut+, a more accessible tier for music distribution, AND I married the love of my life in the same week! Ima and I had our Afrocaribbean themed wedding weekend in Antigua surrounded by our loved ones. We enjoyed a traditional Nigerian ceremony, a sundowner picnic, an unforgettable boat party, and a Carnival Jouvert celebration, it was the happiest few days of my life. ????September: Got back to work and developed UnitedMasters’ influencer marketing strategy with partners Get Engaged to elevate our narratives with music curators across social. ?? October: Spearheaded the launch of our first brand campaign encouraging artists to Believe in their craft. It was a privilege to bring Steve Stoute's vision to life in collaboration with Translation, our rockstar music team + award-winning director Edgar Esteves. ?? November: Found a star through the Make Your Debut+ challenge, after searching through thousands of submissions to sign our next Partner Artist to the label. I got a chance to welcome our winner, Dono (also a Netflix Rhythm + Flow finalist!), and prep her to perform at our marquee annual event, Selectcon. https://bit.ly/3Buzlr5 ??
