America’s obesity crisis is a symptom of deeper issues in our approach to food and health. For decades, we’ve been misled by outdated guidelines like the food pyramid, which placed a heavy emphasis on carbs and grains while sidelining the emphasis on nutrient-dense whole foods. Meanwhile, it’s cheaper to buy processed, low-quality foods than to invest in fruits, vegetables, and quality proteins—making it difficult for many families to prioritize healthy eating. To turn this around, we need a complete re-education on what a truly healthy diet looks like. That means focusing on whole foods—fresh veggies, fruits, healthy fats, and clean proteins—as the foundation of our meals. And we need systemic change to make these foods more affordable and accessible for everyone. The journey away from a diet packed with ultra-processed, hyper-palatable foods won’t be quick, but it’s crucial for the health of our nation. Let’s move toward a future where real, nourishing food is the standard. www.gogeviti.com

Well said. Unfortunately, the calories per dollar ration is better in many processed foods.
