Last mile sustainability is getting worse, not better. Parcel volume has increased drastically over the past 10 years, and this growth inevitably leads to higher emissions, particularly in a home-delivery-first model. More miles driven = more emissions. When sustainability is such a key factor for retailers when it comes to choosing a logistics partner, carriers need to develop an OOH strategy that is both sustainable and convenient for consumers. Find out how they can do this here: https://hubs.li/Q02swvJk0 #OOH #Sustainability #Carriers

Today, we are thrilled to announce that the Consortium to Reinvent the Retail Bag, managed by Closed Loop Partners' Center for the Circular Economy, is accelerating its collaboration with several of the world's leading retailers, Target, CVS Health, The Kroger Co., Dollar Tree Stores, Family Dollar, Meijer and Walmart, to scale solutions that help eliminate single-use bag waste. “From the Consortium’s work over the last 4 years, we know that retailer collaboration and customer engagement are critical to making waste a thing of the past. As we expand from ideation to implementation of solutions that support customers and reduce single-use bag waste, we aim to drive a cultural change toward reduction and reuse,” says Kate Daly, Managing Director and Head of the Center for the Circular Economy at Closed Loop Partners. I am thrilled to announce the next phase of the #BeyondtheBag Initiative alongside Target, CVS Health, Kroger, Dollar Tree Stores, Family Dollar, Meijer, and Walmart! The blueprint for our strategy to eliminate single-use bag waste can be found in our recently released report, Sparking a National Culture Shift to Reduce Plastic Bag Waste, which shares the learnings and impact from our 2023 Bring Your Own Bag Pilot. The pilot engaged 160 retailers and 375+ stores of all sizes across Denver, Colorado, and Tucson, Arizona, implementing messaging across the customer service journey to encourage shoppers to bring their own bag or not use a bag at all. The campaign eliminated up to 9.5 million bags across the two test markets, reducing plastic waste and creating operational savings for our retail partners. Both initiatives demonstrate the opportunity and impact of collaboration and a systems approach to drive waste reduction, and we’re excited to prove our strategy in the next phase of the #BeyondtheBag Initiative. Please reach out if you’re interested in learning more, as it truly takes a team to scale systems change, and thanks to our collaborative group of retailers and partners now and over the past four years (“our team”) who have helped make this impact and the next phase come to life! The #circulareconomy is coming to #retail. In some segments, it’s already here. It’s exciting to be building a platform through Circa Systems that’s going to help transform this critical segment of our economy into a circular system. Great article from Scot Case on where things are currently and where they’re headed.

Hello and welcome to RetailOpedia, by IMAGES RetailME Today's term is Green Retailing. It's all about stores joining the movement to be kinder to our planet. Just imagine your favorite shopping spots taking steps to help the environment. They start by cutting down on energy use, reducing waste, sourcing products from eco-friendly suppliers, and even encouraging shoppers to make sustainable choices. It's like spreading a little love to the Earth with every sale and purchase. Green retailing involves incorporating environmentally sustainable practices into retail operations and offerings. This means reducing energy consumption, minimizing waste, sourcing eco-friendly products, and promoting sustainable consumer behavior. #wordoftheday #RetailOpedia #GreenRetailing #Sustainability #RetailInsights

As Americans become more conscious of their impact, circularity issues like waste reduction and responsible sourcing are in the spotlight. For many, this means turning to secondhand shopping. ??? Surprisingly, nearly half of U.S. consumers bought something used in 2023. What's even more interesting? Secondhand shopping is no longer just for budget-conscious buyers—it's trending among higher-income groups too! Thoughts? Happy Earth Week! My brief take on taking care of our planet. ? Hardware is often overlooked in the age of powerful software companies. A lot of focus is around data and creating more statistics surrounding sustainability. At this point we know we have problems. It's time to DO something about it. Software did not land us in the environmental crisis we find ourselves in. If we want to enact meaningful change we must change our consumption habits and the objects we use every day (hardware). 3/4 of household waste, and the plastic crisis, is largely due to food packing. Just look in your trash can. We are celebrating the launch of our new M1 Dispenser. Purcell offers an alternative to wasteful packaging and outdated scoop bins. Let's make sustainable shopping a part of our everyday lives! https://www.purcell.eco/
