Friendly reminder that DevOps is a practice, not a role. DevOps is when the same people write the code (dev) and also deploy and monitor it (ops). What we came to call DevOps is usually a system engineer or cloud engineer who’s specialized in devopsy tooling but that misses the point. The problem with calling someone “a DevOps” is that typically it releases the developers from having to care about operations. Which defeats the whole point. If you want a high performing team… stop hiring DevOps.
