Humans. Wherever we go we leave a mess. How do we ensure that we can improve life on Earth and in space with closed loop life support systems and not have to resort to abandoning human waste wherever we go? When you're at Space-Comm Expo, Scotland and you're asked to volunteer to be on a panel in a ‘Space Bar’ live run by AstroAgency on Sustainable Spaceports (including the environmental and financial sustainability as well as community outreach) Jeni Trice jumped at the chance! She was delighted to share her thoughts alongside fellow panellists, Derek Harris from Skyrora Ltd and Stuart Fyve from Fire Arrow Jeni is really looking forward to the roundtable discussion today where together with Victoria Christmas from Orange Tree Partnership she will be putting your questions to the table as we discuss how to 'Make space accessible for all' Video Transcript: "To get the funding to deliver some of those pieces of content and we're lucky enough to have Skyrora as one of our sponsors, so thank you for that Derek, but I think it's again creating more conversations and allowing an increase in understanding of how much of a difference it will make to support the wider community. I’m thrilled to share that I’ve recently been inducted as a Cosmos Ranger and joined Cosmos for Humanity, a pioneering NGO recognized as a public utility for its critical work in space sustainability! Thank you for the warm welcome David Many As the newspace economy continues to expand, with increasing commercialization and private sector involvement, it’s more important than ever to educate ourselves and others on the preservation of our space environment. The opportunities are endless, but so are the responsibilities. If we don’t act now to protect the orbital environment, we risk overcrowding space and losing access to it in the future due to debris and mismanagement. Cosmos for Humanity drew me in with its mission: ensuring that space exploration acts in the interests of all humanity by prioritizing sustainability, not just on Earth but in space as well. Their neutral, independent approach aligns with my belief that space should be managed as a global commons—preserving it for future generations, while enabling innovation and growth today.?? ?? I’m particularly excited about their educational efforts, which are crucial to making the challenges of preserving the orbital environment accessible to everyone. By offering training programs for companies and public events for all ages, Cosmos for Humanity empowers people to grasp the environmental and social implications of space activities. We can’t tackle these challenges in isolation—we need everyone to be involved, informed, and engaged.As a Cosmos Ranger, I’m eager to contribute by raising awareness, sharing knowledge, and helping to build a community dedicated to the sustainable use of space. Whether through public outreach, advocacy, or working with organizations on best practices, I’m committed to ensuring that space remains a resource for all humanity—both now and in the future.
