The ongoing hangover from Diwali celebrations serves as a reminder of the need for quality rest. During an evening discussion with friends in rural Alipurduar, we addressed critical food security issues, especially regarding small and marginal farmers. It is paradoxical that these farmers, who produce food, often find themselves reliant on ration shops for basic necessities due to inadequate financial resources. They struggle to manage even minimal land, facing predatory practices from input suppliers who charge inflated prices and enforce conditions that require farmers to sell their produce back to them at uncompetitive rates. After covering costs for equipment and other expenses, these farmers are left with only 10-15% of their earnings, insufficient for their labor-intensive efforts. This longstanding cycle of indebtedness perpetuates their distressing situation. It is imperative for Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs) to genuinely address these issues to ensure that small and marginal farmers achieve fair compensation and improved livelihoods. This year, the Diwali Festival will begin on November 1. Diwali is a holiday celebrated in India, also known as the Festival of Lights. This festival usually takes place for 5 days and prepares two months before the festival. However, this festival indirectly affects the cashew industry in the world's most populous country. Cashew nuts have always been a favorite snack of Indians. But currently, raw cashew output is currently decreasing quite a lot in India and decreasing by about 25% in other producing countries such as Vietnam and Africa. Cashew industries around the world have prepared themselves for prices to continue to rise in the coming months, and may only cool down when the next harvest begins in March 2025. The first piece of our tech ecosystem takes shape with a deep impact to some of the lives who are not lit well during Diwali. I am glad that we can now make some meaningful impact. #Sustainability #CircularEconomy #WNDYKaro
This Diwali brings more happiness, we created a positive impact through our innovative platform, WNDY (Waste Not Dead Yet). This festive season, we leveraged WNDY to implement a sustainable initiative that brought the joy of festivities into people’s lives by turning waste into happiness. WNDY, a first-of-its-kind online marketplace for buying and selling waste, was created to connect sellers and buyers, promoting the principles of a circular economy through responsible sourcing, recycling, and reusing of materials. The platform offers a quick and convenient way for sellers (households, offices, corporations, RWAs, etc.) to post waste items, while buyers (scrap dealers, aggregators, and recyclers) can easily browse and negotiate transactions, streamlining waste management. Curious to see how we made this happen? Watch the video here!

Protecting Stray Animals and pets During Diwali: Celebrate Responsable Diwali, known as the festival of lights, is a time of joy and celebration, but it can also pose significant challenges for our pets and stray animals. The loud noises from firecrackers, bright lights, and chaotic festivities can lead to anxiety and distress in animals. It is essential to raise awareness about how to protect both pets at home and strays in the community during this festive season. Understanding the Impact on Animals Animals, particularly dogs, cats, birds and cows, have heigh senses compared to humans. The loud sounds of fireworks can cause fear and anxiety, leading to behaviors such as trembling, hiding, or excessive barking. Additionally, the smoke from firecrackers can be harmful to their respiratory systems. Stray animals are particularly vulnerable as they lack safe spaces to retreat from the noise and chaos. Celebrating Diwali should include compassion for all beings, including our furry friends. By taking proactive measures to protect both pets at home and stray animals in our communities, we can ensure a safer, more inclusive celebration. Let’s make this Diwali a festival of love and kindness by prioritising the well-being of all creatures around us. Why they do not adopt stray animals, approximately 6.2 crore stray /streets dogs and 91 lakh street cats in India ? No concern for them - Worried about only their pets and that ,too ,on Diwali, only . Moreover, what about the countries and some communities that eat dogs .?? Some countries where people eat dogs and cats include: China This country is believed to be responsible for the majority of global cases of cat and dog slaughter. It's legal to sell and eat dog meat in China, and the tradition of eating dogs dates back thousands of years. Cambodia An estimated two to three million dogs are slaughtered annually in Cambodia for their meat. Indonesia Less than seven percent of Indonesians eat dog and cat meat, but around one million dogs and hundreds of thousands of cats are killed for the meat trade every year. ?????????????????? ???????????? ???? ???? ???????????? ???? ?????????? ????????????????!! Here’s the reality. Fireworks were an important part of royal celebrations in medieval India but were not accessible to common people. With the setting up of a factory in Sivakasi by the Nadar brothers, fireworks became commonplace. Tradition is fundamentally man-made, reflecting the values and lifestyles of specific times and cultures. But tradition also has evolved and adapted with changes in the society. In many cases, tradition has been bastardized to suit people’s convenience. E.g., wedding ceremonies. The population of domestic animals has risen considerably (note: petcare industry boom) and therefore, it’s time to change and consider celebrating without the crackers. So, let the raging debates take place on the yays and nays of cracker bursting. On our part, let’s adapt and adjust and consider those mute souls who don’t have a say in the matter and simply suffer the noise and pollution with some slipping into trauma. If you still insist on getting hot under the collar defending your obscene spend on crackers, Well.... I don't want to be dragged down to your level in an argument with you beating me with your experience. Happy Diwali to you!! Animal Rights Fund p.s: Can Zepto Amazon Blinkit and other delivery platforms take a stand and refuse to deliver crackers? #compassion #lookingbeyondbusiness #egodivorce
