Excited to announce that our latest research has been published in Science of the Total Environment! Our study delves into Natural Source Zone Depletion (#NSZD)—a critical process for measuring the natural biodegradation of petroleum at contaminated sites. Conducted at a site that has been under investigation for decades, we examined NSZD rates across aviation gasoline, gasoline, diesel, and crude oil. Through a combination of intensive field measurements and long-term simulations, we uncovered how fuel composition, age, and weathering significantly influence NSZD rates. The research also highlights variability across measurement methods and emphasizes the pivotal role of fuel properties in shaping both short- and long-term biodegradation processes. #STOTEN #NSZD #Remediation #Research https://lnkd.in/gWc-4gfT

?? A small step that could make a big difference. The proposed rule from the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) has the potential to remove a large obstacle to inter-state carbon dioxide pipelines. Many regulators and lawmakers across multiple US states are waiting for the update to the CO2 Pipelines Safety Regulations from the federal agency. As soon as tighther federal standards are adopted, the prospects for project approvals at the state level are likely to improve. #unitedstates #regulations #safetystandards #carbondioxide #pipelines #federalgovernment

Teledyne LABS - ISCO syringe pumps are excellent CO2 pumps and can be used in CO2 sequestration experiments to duplicate the fluid and pressure conditions in geological formations. Carbon Sequestration strategies are: Direct – removal of greenhouse gases from the generating source and Indirect – Removal of greenhouse gases from the air for storage in reservoirs, oceans, or terrestrial ecosystems. Carbon Sequestration can be accomplished different ways such as: Enhance Oil Recovery (EOR) – where CO2 is pumped into oil reservoirs to maintain production levels of crude oil, Enhance Coal-Bed Methane (ECBM) recovery – Methane recovery through CO2 injection into coal beds, Saline Reservoir Injection – injecting CO2 into deep saline aquifers. To learn more about Carbon Sequestration using ISCO pumps, read the following application note: https://hubs.la/Q02yRVwl0 #carbonsequestration #greenhousegas #pumping

Cracking the Code: Hydraulic Fracturing Explained ?????? Ever wondered how we access those hard-to-reach pockets of natural gas and oil deep underground? ?? Enter hydraulic fracturing, aka fracking! Here's a breakdown of this game-changing technology: 1?? Drilling Down: A well is drilled vertically, and often horizontally, to reach the target rock formation (shale or tight sands). 2?? Fracturing Fluid Injection: A high-pressure mixture of water, sand, and additives is pumped into the wellbore. This creates fractures in the rock, allowing trapped hydrocarbons to flow. ???? 3?? Propping It Open: Sand particles act as "proppants," keeping the fractures open and creating pathways for gas and oil to travel to the surface. 4?? Extraction: Hydrocarbons flow to the surface, ready to be processed and used as energy resources. ???? Benefits of Hydraulic Fracturing: ? Increased domestic energy production ???? ? Reduced reliance on foreign oil imports ?? ? Job creation and economic growth ???? ? Lower energy costs for consumers ?? Environmental Considerations: ?? Potential for groundwater contamination ?? ?? Induced seismicity (minor earthquakes) ?? ?? Requires large amounts of water ?? ?? Methane emissions (a potent greenhouse gas) ?? The Future of Fracking: Ongoing research and innovation focus on: ?? Reducing water usage and environmental impact ?? ?? Improving well integrity and safety ?? ?? Minimizing methane emissions ?? #HydraulicFracturing #Fracking #Energy #OilAndGas #Innovation #Technology #Environment #Sustainability #ShaleGas #NaturalGas To Learn More, Subscribe to Our Newsletter : https://lnkd.in/gCdPiT7K

This is truly earth-shattering research. After 2031, Hamilton calculates oil will be so energy intensive to extract, that more energy will be expended than we use. The whole oil industry will be not only pointless, but massively destructive. Is that the end of oil? https://lnkd.in/ewxRVgAk
