As some brands scale back their DEI practices, we remain firm in our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Both Maria and I are passionate advocates for DEI, and I’m proud to serve as the DEI Ambassador in my ProVisors networking group. Rolling back on DEI commitments, or worse, using it as a cash grab, isn’t acceptable. DEI isn’t just about corporate responsibility—it’s about generating fresh ideas and perspectives from people with different socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds. Thinking … Why not? DEI Call it norms, values, or societal construct or call it DEI. The debate is a extreme trend to ignore the most glaring truth: Where there is difference and culture there is Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Where there is power there is a responsibility to use it responsibly and safely for everyone. These circumstances are the same for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

DEI initiatives, and conversations to help create work environments and work cultures where every person feels respected, empowered, and included, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability status, location, or other characteristics will be immensely successful when: A shift occurs where we purposefully move from discussing and envisioning what this looks like to purposeful pursuit and cultivation of culture that truly allows for safe spaces and conversations to occur to help those that offend the principals of DEI identify the behavior that perpetuates a lack of inclusion, acceptance, respect and empowerment.

Giving the highest thanks and praise to Timothy Ballenger who spoke at my very first program as VP of DEI for GBTA | Bay Area last night at The Jay, Autograph Collection in SF. Thanks to all who attended and BABTA fellow board members. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives are important for several reasons: 1. **Fostering Innovation and Creativity**: Diverse teams bring different perspectives, experiences, and ideas, which can lead to more innovative solutions and creative problem-solving. Inclusive environments encourage everyone to contribute, leading to better outcomes. 2. **Improving Organizational Performance**: Studies show that companies with strong DEI practices tend to outperform their peers. A diverse workforce that feels valued and included can increase productivity and drive better decision-making. 3. **Reflecting Society's Diversity**: Organizations that embrace DEI better reflect the diversity of their customers and communities, allowing them to respond more effectively to diverse needs and preferences. 4. **Enhancing Employee Satisfaction and Retention**: An inclusive culture promotes fairness, respect, and equal opportunities, leading to higher job satisfaction and employee retention. Employees who feel included are more likely to stay engaged and loyal. 5. **Addressing Social Justice and Inequality**: DEI efforts help address historical inequalities and systemic barriers faced by marginalized groups. By promoting equity, organizations contribute to a fairer, more just society. 6. **Attracting Talent**: DEI practices are increasingly important to job seekers.
