Great news for veggies and vegans in Hull ... this NEW plant-based doner kebab is now available to sink your teeth into! ?????? German Doner Kebab, or GDK UK, opened in Hull city centre in December 2021 and serves up some of the tastiest, freshest doner kebabs in the city. They've just introduced this amazing plant-based alternative for veggies and vegans, served up in their signature toasted waffle bread, sauce and packed with loads of crispy salad! The plant-based kebab is made with soya protein and infused with GDK’s signature spice blend. We thought it was absolutely delicious, and we could barely taste the difference from the regular chicken doner which we also tried. The new plant-based doner isn’t limited to kebabs either. If you don't fancy the bread, you can get the new GDK plant-based doner in either a wrap or served in a box along with their crispy seasoned fries, giving vegetarians plenty of delicious choices. The toasted sesame waffle bread is definitely a massive highlight though, especially the garlic & cheese-filled side and if you're up for dessert at the end, definitely try the chocolate-filled version too! New products include Plant & Veg Mince, Plant & Vegballs, Organic Firm Tofu and Garlic-filled Doughballs. Waitrose has seen a surge in customers searching the website for plant-based items as people are increasingly cooking with whole foods. Website searches for canned lentils, marinated tofu and vegan salad recipes are up by 200%, 134% and 700% respectively. ?? Hooray—it′s Veganuary! Some tips from Sharon Palmer, one of our experts in the latest Vegocracy Report: 1. Get rid of the ”meat-as-the-center-of-the-plate” idea. We typically put a large piece of meat on the plate, which crowds out healthful vegetables. Try more mixed dishes, such as pasta, stir-fry, and casseroles as a better solution to working in more plants. 2. Start with what’s familiar. Everybody knows what their favorite foods are. Take those recipes and load them up with more veggies! 3. Realize that time is not a barrier. There are easy solutions!
