Do we have enough master planners!! When I see a good building, I also see a poor infrastructure. Is it not true that slowly we are forgetting the importance of a good master planner, a good landscape architect!! Any project should first be done by a master planner who should study traffic and other needs of the future and every project in that area should comply with the master plan. The government should plan this.

If you want to reduce re-work and surprises - get your surveys done early! Why are early site surveys required? ?? To de-risk the site for the client ?? To unlock the design team ?? To unlock planning conditions I do not suggest you do all the surveys at the outset, it should be a phased approach completing the right surveys at the right time as the project evolves. For example, you wouldnt want to complete a expensive Geotechnical survey untill you know that the site has been de-risked to a certain stage where you know it is likely to go ahead.
