How long does a single IP FAST channel last? Very astute question from Graham H. at ITV Studios. So, what's the lifetime of single IP? Easier to answer if the show is still in production. The channel lives as long as there's fresh content. If it is out of production though...? Graham says: We'll need to think about how to evolve those channels into something beyond just single IP. Dare I say, dual IP Gavin Bridge ??
A well-known branded single series channel can have an extremely long life span without fresh content. A perfect example of this is Kitchen Nightmares which debuted on TV in the US in 2007 and produced approx. 88 episodes. The channel has been live on Samsung TV Plus for 4 years and continues to perform very well. While the series may be discovered by first time viewers on FAST services, many viewers don't mind watching the same episodes over and over again. It's "comfort food" and the viewers know exactly what they are getting! IMHO, a "Friends" or "The Office" channel could run practically forever with no new episodes!
Andy Grffith Show still going strong without being in production. It's all based on how strong the IP is for sure.

6 个月Hahah yes the evolution has happened! And I think both the Atomic Age of FAST and Decoding FAST reports have stats from me on how Single-IP channels last longer than the average curated channel. Now the challenge would be to isolate media-branded curated channels from independent channels and see the life rates there. Maybe in June I’ll have time for that… Also re evolution, Banijay has a great example in the States with using Deal or No Deal to promote Deal or No Deal Island on NBC this winter - single IP can be used to drive audiences to related content on TV.
