Increasing the screw #rotational speed in extrusion machines is known to boost productivity, but know that this increase will reache a limit !. This is because the rate of pellets falling into the screw flight reaches a limit, making it impossible to raise productivity without changing the screw. However, there are other ways to increase extruder throughput, regardless of the rotational speed. Preheating granules before entering the extruder using special heating preparations or raising the temperature of the hopper dryer can give an additional amount of energy to the granules, making them more efficient for the following stages of compression and plasticizing inside the extruder. #plasticsindustry #extrusion #technology #pipes #productivity #management

Anyone that has been around extrusion for many years, has bad memories of leaking screw coolers and doesn’t want anything to do with them, but many times cooling the screw can help the process. Why? One example is, the amount of recycled being used today is greater than in the past. The nature of recycled material is for it to have more dust, and small particles than virgin material. The smaller particles melt faster and stick to the screw and degrade in the melt stream resulting in black pits or specs. Cooling the screw in this instance can help with the premature melting. This is ideal for small to medium-sized production runs where different types or colors of powder may be used, and flexibility is important. Key Components of a Batch Powder Coating System: 1. Powder Booth: The booth is where the powder coating is applied to the parts. Inside the booth, the metal parts are sprayed with electrostatically charged powder, which adheres to the surface of the part. 2. Powder Coating Gun: This is the tool used to apply the powder to the part. The powder is charged electrostatically, meaning the particles are attracted to the grounded metal part. 3. Curing Oven: After the powder is applied, the parts are sent through a curing oven where they are heated to a specific temperature. This causes the powder to melt, flow, and chemically bond with the substrate, forming a hard, durable finish. 4. Conveyor System: For batch systems, a conveyor may be used to move the parts through the powder booth and curing oven in a controlled manner. 5.
