CEO, Jesny Farms | I help farmers optimize business operations, reduce bottlenecks and maximize profit | Women & Girl Child Advocate
Since the month of April, we've been experiencing nature's free gift, rain, and it also comes with an advantage where water is surplus in the growing of plants. Now, it's not enough to seize this opportunity in planting seeds and nurturing them… It's also wise to know the type of crops to grow at this time of the year… Some crops that are partakers of our daily food have been proven to thrive exceedingly well even in heavily waterlogged areas. They are: ?Rice ?Maize ?Vegetables such as tomatoes and peppers ?Coco Yam and sweet potatoes Planting these crops and storing them after harvesting can ?Take our money away from food and invest it on other important things of life. ? Guarantee a long time food for both the harvester and the poor mass, because it can be sold at a cheaper rate to enable the poor to access them. Let's work together to tackle food insecurity!!!!

From Gas to Growth: The Nitrogen Fixation Story Essential for plant growth, nitrogen is often in short supply, but thanks to nitrogen-fixing bacteria, nature has its own solution. These microscopic superheroes take atmospheric nitrogen gas and convert it into a form that plants can absorb and thrive on. ???? Perennial legumes like alfalfa and clover are the best in nitrogen fixation, but don't overlook grain legumes such as peanuts, fava beans, soybeans, and cowpeas, along with common beans like green beans, all contributing to soil enrichment. ??? Grow these legumes after every crop cycle to naturally fix the nitrogen in your soil. . . . . . . . . . . . #allthatgrows #nitrogenfixation #soilhealth #greenmiracle #gardeningtips #natureknowsbest #soilscience #growgreen #plantnutrition #microbialmagic #legumelove #sustainablegardening

Mycellium. Better known as mushroom networks...This is what they look like when you innoculate your wood chip mulch with mushroom spores so they can eat away at your materials on the ground, feeding your plants over time with the slow release of nutrients. But did you know there's more to it? A network of mycellium is also known to help plants communicate through the network to go ask for more nutrients. So if you have plants in need of specific nutrients, it can get fed those nutrients by the fungal network providing them whatever they need from even entire opposite sides of your food forest. This is why I don't pay too close of attention when I throw slow release fertilizer in my yard. Yes, the wood chips will lock up some of the nitrogen, but they're also being broken down, so that nitrogen will make it's way to the plants no matter what. Start with the ground before you plant anything. Healthy soil makes healthy plants, and if you don't have a good fungal network in the dirt...start creating one. #garden #permaculture #mushrooms

Did you know that there are over 120,000 varieties of rice in the world? On my farm, we grow 20 unique varieties, including sake and sushi rice, as well as red and purple rice, which are high in antioxidants. You might be wondering why we focus on specialty rice. The answer is simple - it's more profitable for farmers. While plain long-grain white rice dominates the commodity market, specialty rice commands a premium price. By gaining access to specialty contracts, farmers can earn more revenue per acre and have more economic freedom in deciding on their rotation. So, the next time you're enjoying a delicious sushi roll, take a moment to think about the American rice farmer. #rice #agriculture #usgrown #farmer
