?? 2 days post Businessplan-Wettbewerb Berlin-Brandenburg (BPW) ?? Let's get it out of the way: We did not win, sorry, fans! Thanks for all the support though, especially everyone who came to the event just for Henrietta! You guys are just ?? Congrats to the winners of both the main prize and the audience prize (I honestly don't think anyone could have competed with that winning pitch, so chapeau!). The good news for me and Henrietta though: We ranked 6th in total! Out of more than 150 entries ?? I tend to sweep accomplishments like this under the rug but I think it is time to take a step back and look at this result as it is. This was my first business plan I ever wrote. It is a strange feeling to publicly say that I am proud of something I achieved but I am. Is this a female thing? And of course it wouldn't be a proper LinkedIn Post without the key learnings, so I also have one for you: A business plan is hard work but once I had it, it made so much sense to do it. Sounds like a no brainer but sometimes we need to say the most obvious things or even write them down - like you have to with your business idea in a business plan. Many of the things I wrote down felt like "d'uh" moments because it was all in my head, not really cohesive but it was there. Consequently, it was really important to see them all written down in a structured form. It made me feel much safer with my idea and the execution. Also, I was able to incorporate so many bits and pieces that came to me which led to a well rounded strategy. So I will definitely continue with the plan for the next phase in may and incorporate the feedback I was given. IMO - New Balance continues to raise the bar in terms of developing strategic, well-produced content in support of both their product and athlete partners / ambassadors. They did the same in signing Cooper Flagg a few months ago, female basketball star Cameron Brink, and last year when aligning a footwear silhouette made in the UK to Italian culture and well-known chef Massimo Bottura (see here: https://lnkd.in/egJbWjZa). In a world of vertical, organic video, they stand out by going against the grain and investing in quality storytelling as much as production. Plus, I’ve always appreciated Chris Davis’s perspective of a 50-30-20 approach to marketing the brand. 50% of allocated budget towards proven tactics, 30% towards more risk-based initiatives, and 20% towards bigger swings that have a higher probability to fail. Most brands would solely err towards the 50. After the Ourspace chapter closed, it took me a while to find what I was looking for next. Shutting down my startup was the most introspective I've ever been about my career. I thought a lot about what I wanted to opt into, and more importantly what I wanted to opt out of. Circuit is the outlier I was looking for - bootstrapped, profitable, intentionally small, and exciting yet sustainable growth. Equally as important, I was looking for a place that's as intentional about *how* they work as *what* they work on. And when I say intentional, I mean it: We don't use Slack, OKRs, or scrum. And there are very, very few meetings. All of this is by careful design. And takes immense courage to not simply mirror "normal" ways of working just because everyone else is doing it. It's this kind of nonconformity that got me especially excited about working with Jack Underwood and the team at Circuit. Onward!
