Do you hire for current skills or potential? In my experience, the answer is a bit of both gets the best results. Hiring for their current skillset, and their potential can enhance your retention rates and the company overall and build a strong culture of development and growth. Attempting to check every box during the hiring process is unrealistic. Individuals have strengths and areas for development. Nobody is perfect, and setting these expectations will alienate a lot of folks. Why would someone join a role that they tick all the boxes for anyway and have nothing to learn? They will be gone after 6 months. Make your hiring decisions considering both aspects: where they can contribute to the company, culture, team, or product, and where you can support their growth and development. Why would they want to join your journey? Align this with their values and what drives them, and the magic happens. it’s a two-way street. What do you look for when hiring?

While you’re rigorously evaluating candidates, they’re doing the same to you, especially if they’re not actively job-seeking. So, how can you position yourself to attract top talent? → From the initial conversation, showcase your leadership qualities. → Convey your company’s vision - paint the picture of what success could look like. → Acknowledge that you’re asking candidates to take a leap of faith by joining you. → Be transparent about trajectory, burn rate, milestones, and the company’s growth. → Demonstrate empathy towards candidates’ personal lives. Be adaptable throughout the process. → Work with a reliable recruitment partner who accurately relays your value, potential, ambition, and mindset to candidates. Hiring is a two-way street. Don’t forget to show candidates why they should choose you instead of focusing solely on whether you should choose them.

Remember!! Recruitment is a two way street! Remember!! Hiring is a two way street! . Here's one of the hiring practices I often followed during my leadership journey since the inception! . And I would practice this simple yet most effective practice, as a hiring manager often, and in my best capacity and bandwidth, consistently! And that is, to! .. .. Congratulate! Congratulating the candidate on being able to crack the interview! Reflecting and sharing the excitement of looking forward to working together! Sharing the culture and the journey the candidate is looking forward to! Sharing a common forum to address any questions or queries the candidate may have! I would simply take the number from candidates resume, and phone call them directly and start the conversation. Sometimes, I would ask recruitment to setup an official video call. Whatever could work, I worked it out! . . Remember, Recruitment is a two way street! Remember, Hiring is a two way street! Is there really a "perfect fit" when it comes to hiring? The short answer is no. In my experience, there's always a balancing act between technical skills, experience, and cultural fit. I have been on both sides of the table, and chairs so to speak, when it comes to Hiring, I have always hired folks with Vigour, Attitude and Potential,rest of the nity gritty of the role can always be built up. While Looking for work, I wonder if the age old process of judging prospective candidates is any worth, Hiring horizon needs an immediate radical shift, and needs to be dynamic and more contemporary. Much like organisations, we the Employees and the prospective employees have our own Vision and Aspiration that drive us, the need of the hour is to strike the fine balance, where Employees grow at the same speed as the organization, based on ones contribution. #Vkpedia

Five biases in hiring which is very common #One - Hire someone with a similar experience and from big brands . #Two - Hire someone who has a stable history of 3 years or 5 years . #Three - Hire someone who has performed in the past #Four - Hire a specialist #Five - Hire someone who has a lot of experience in the field. In my 20 years of hiring people Let me tell you There is no #winning formula All of the above points don't have any guarantee of performance because I hired a guy with no experience who proved to be great I hired a lady with lots of job change but she proved to be my best employee I hired a guy with lots of stability and experience but he didn't work So what should you look for Look for values , integrity, attitude, and hunger Rest everything falls into place if you have a great organisation and culture Agree ?
