???**Exploring the Future: Technological Advancement and Successful Climate Action**??? ? ? At SHRMP.bio, we've been diving deep into technology trends and the impact of climate change. Our analysis led us to explore four distinct scenarios, from minimal tech progress and ineffective climate action to significant advancements capable of limiting global warming. Today, we want to focus on the second scenario that involves major technological breakthroughs, especially as a technology startup looking to create a positive impact in Australia, but for the world. ? **Scenario 4: Successfully Limiting Global Warming to 1.5-2.4°C with Significant Technological Advances**?? ? In this promising scenario, we (as in the world) have successfully mitigated global warming and were able to adapt to the challenges of climate change. Key highlights include: ? - **Sustainable Food Production**: Traditional farming techniques are adapted to minimize emissions and reduce farmland expansion. - **Innovative Farming Practices**: Desert and seawater farming, along with urban vertical farms, have become mainstream, utilizing low-power devices and enhancing local supply chains. - **Automation in Agriculture**: Developed countries embrace fully automated precision farming, while developing nations focus on lower-tech solutions to achieve food sovereignty. - **Minimized Conflicts**: International tensions are reduced, and trade remains functional, enabling effective resource sharing and maintaining stability. ? In this landscape, technology ownership and expertise are crucial—not only for security and commercial reasons, but also for helping vulnerable countries maintain local food supplies and strengthen their regional trade. ? ???As we move forward, we aim to be part of the solution, driving innovation that supports sustainable practices and climate resilience. Let's work together to shape a greener future! ? Dr. Wildcat asks that you please read this. In a nutshell, humans are a threatened species, due to our drastic impacts to the global #climate, however we can minimize this threat with collective action. This study reassesses the human climate niche, examining its underlying mechanisms and connections to temperature extremes. It calculates current and future exposure outside this niche under various demographic and global warming scenarios. Exposure outside the niche can lead to increased morbidity, mortality, adaptation in place, or migration. High temperatures are linked to increased mortality, decreased labor productivity, cognitive performance, learning, adverse pregnancy outcomes, crop yield potential, conflict, hate speech, migration, and the spread of infectious diseases. Additionally, climate-related harms not covered by the niche include sea-level rise. In a future world with a population of 9.5 billion, assessing worst-case scenarios is crucial. If the transient climate response to cumulative emissions is high, current policies could lead to approximately 3.6°C global warming by the end of the century. This would result in 34% of the population (3.3 billion) being exposed to extreme heat, 39% (3.7 billion) outside the climate niche due to temperature changes alone, and 48% (4.5 billion) when including demographic changes. If climate policies are not enacted and fossil-fuel development continues, global warming could reach about 4.4°C, exposing 45% (4.2 billion) to extreme heat, 47% (4.5 billion) outside the niche from temperature changes alone, and 55% (5.3 billion) when including demographic changes. #GlobalWarming #ClimateChange #ClimatePolicy

NAS Bioventures Global warming: Pre-seed investment for ClimateTech: This round of investment focuses on developing the working model of combination of technologies to restore the biotic and abiotic components of the ecosystems. I was reading an article about the various methods being explored to address global warming. The key points to note is that we altered the environment to make our life luxurious without having thorough understanding of the biotic and abiotic components of the ecosystem that had created the stable system with each contributing towards the same. No one will really know the implications of technologies and by the time we know it may be too late. While focus is on Carbon emissions, one example of the many to look into is that we also need to look at the fact that in densely populated regions, we have converted lands to roads. Soil which were fertile and had sound ecosystem with various life forms is no longer fertile and ecosystem disrupted. We are converting our land equivalent to a desert like situation in densely populated regions by doing so and raising temperatures. We need to restore the biotic and abiotic components of the soil and water, them being one of the approaches to restore the planet. We did not understand the entirety of the earth or ecosystem before disrupting the balance and the safest way is to restore to what we knew the Earth to be in its best form. The composition of air could be made better and involves a combination of technologies. And most importantly if we rage war, this planet will cease to exist very soon and the very purpose of war defied. At the end of the day, we have money and power for firstly survival with access to all resources and then luxury. if resources cease to exist then what is the point of war. One of the biggest problems we have encountered in recent years is global warming. Greenhouse gases released into the air as a result of increased fossil fuel use are increasing the greenhouse effect and are causing our planet to warm up more and more each passing day. Global warming is not only showing its effect in terrestrial environments but also in aquatic ecosystems such as seas and oceans. According to a study conducted in recent years, it has been revealed that fish are more affected by global climate change than thought. According to the worst-case scenario predicted for global warming in previous years, it was estimated that there would be a 5°C global temperature increase by 2100 and that 5% of fish species would have difficulty coping with the heat, but since this study was based only on a number of analyses obtained from adult fish, it did not give us a completely accurate result. In a study conducted in recent years, it was determined that 60% of fish species would not be able to cope with this 5°C global temperature increase, considering the differences between spawning and non-spawning adults, larvae and embryos. In addition, according to this research, even a global temperature increase of only 1.5°C, which is the target of the Paris Climate Agreement, poses a danger to 10% of fish species. We can attribute this increase in the danger rate to the fact that hatching fish and embryo fish are more intolerant of high-temperature waters and prefer to live in cold waters where oxygen is better dissolved. Unfortunately, the temperature increase in recent years has been faster than fish can adapt. Therefore, we must minimize climate change and do all our best to prevent fish, which are a very important food source for humans and play a major role in the life cycle, from being endangered. "A shift in lifestyles, such as wasting less food and eating more plant-based meals are key to getting the world on track to meet the Paris Agreement commitments, according to a study published?on Wednesday.? While countries have set emission targets to help the world meet the goal of?limiting global warming?to a maximum of 2C (3.6F), 'it's very unclear how you would actually make progress towards these targets and eventually achieve them,' said Bjoern Soergel, a researcher at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, and the study’s lead author.? To provide clarity, Soergel and his colleagues analyzed three pathways to reduce emissions and meet the sustainable development goals set in 2015. All three scenarios were designed to help countries reduce emissions in line with the Paris Agreement and meet the Sustainable Development Goals that focus on improving wellbeing agreed to in 2015. Researchers found that the pathway focused on lifestyle changes was the least dependent on novel technologies while also having the greatest additional positive outcomes for biodiversity and climate protection.? In this scenario, consumption drops in the Global North, a polarizing idea?known as post-growth. Those in favor of post-growth — which involves shifting from GDP as the main economic metric to a more holistic view — argue that humans can’t reduce their ecological impact without moving away from an economic mandate of perpetual growth. Instead, proponents argue, the richest countries should cut consumption and move toward a circular economy."

?? Project Drawdown: A Pragmatic and Enlightening Approach to Tackling Climate Change ?? I first heard about Project Drawdown on the 45 Graus podcast hosted by José Maria Pimentel (which I highly recommend by the way), and it has since captivated my attention. Project Drawdown is a global research organization that provides a comprehensive, pragmatic, and enlightening plan to tackle global warming. What's fascinating is the diversity and impact of the solutions they propose. They're not just theoretical - they're actionable, grounded in current technology, and mindful of economic realities. From renewable energy to food systems, each solution is ranked based on its potential to reduce greenhouse gases, cost-effectiveness, and overall societal benefits. One fact that particularly stood out to me is that in one of the most conservative scenarios, education in family planning is in the top 3 solutions. This highlights the interconnectedness of social and environmental issues and underscores the importance of a holistic approach to sustainability. I encourage everyone to explore the Project Drawdown list of solutions. It's a roadmap for how we can pragmatically address climate change while also creating new opportunities for economic growth. https://shorturl.at/kvFI9 #ClimateChange #ProjectDrawdown #Sustainability #BusinessStrategy #45Graus
