Last week, our Chief Technical Officer, Conall Finn, presented at the CPD Part B - Revisions to Part B and TGD Part B event in Galway. Conall’s presentation focused on ‘The Critical Documentation to Facilitate the Certification of Buildings under Part B12’. With the recent updates to Irish Building Regulations under Part B12, building owners must now be provided with critical system maintenance information to operate their buildings safely. This aligns with BCAR certification and ensures the longevity of critical systems in a building. In essence, BCAR + B12 = The Golden Thread of building information. ? In the UK,?the golden thread?refers to the critical information required to certify and operate a building safely. The phrase was coined in the Hackett report following the Grenfell disaster. ? ICYMI, we have exciting news from Tech Nebraska member Kiewit! ?? They’ve been awarded a $73 million contract from the Maryland Transportation Authority Board to rebuild the iconic Francis Scott Key Bridge. The Joint Contracts Tribunal (JCT) unveiled a revamped suite of contracts on 17 April 2024, with the Design and Build family being the first to launch. The JCT 2024 amendments are focused on modernising the JCT to align with current standards and industry practices that have changed over the last 8 years.
