I am thrilled to share that my team, Project Helping Hands, entered a code jam and won the Audience Award! My teammates Luci Brambila, Christian To, Maurice Montaque, and I participated in the November TripleTen Code Jam, an exciting challenge that brought together teams of Software Engineering students to design, develop, and present a fully functional application in just a few days. The experience pushed us to think creatively, work collaboratively, and deliver under tight deadlines. Our project, Helping Hands, is a front-end platform designed to support individuals in need by connecting users with resources such as food pantries, free clothing stores, and housing shelters across the United States. The goal was to create a user-friendly platform that could make it easy for people to find the help they need, especially during the holiday season. Key features of Helping Hands include: ?? Dynamic Resource Updates: A city-selection feature allows users to access resources tailored to their chosen location. ?? Responsive Design: We prioritized accessibility, ensuring the platform works seamlessly on both desktop and mobile devices. ??? Modular Components: Our React-based architecture enabled reusable, scalable components, simplifying development and improving performance. ?? Interactive Map: A visually engaging map lets users explore available resources by location, ensuring an intuitive browsing experience. This project gave me the chance to strengthen my skills in front-end development: ? I handled the responsive design for the navigation bar using CSS Flexbox and media queries to ensure a smooth user experience across all screen sizes. ? I collaborated with my team to develop features like the city-selection system, which dynamically updates the resources displayed based on the user’s choice. ? Working in a fast-paced environment helped me improve my team communication skills and learn more about effectively using Git/GitHub workflows for version control. Participating in this Code Jam was an incredibly rewarding experience. It was not only about building a project but also about demonstrating how technology can be used to solve real-world problems and connect communities. Want to see what we built? ?? Check out my demo video where I walk you through the features of Project Helping Hands. ?? Interested in our code? Visit our GitHub repository: https://lnkd.in/dmVVXWMb ?? Want to see the live site? One skill I would really love to master is coding - I want to build my own apps and websites. ????♀? The only problem is that it takes quite a lot of timeeee and I never got to prioritize it. Yesterday I took my first baby steps with html and css with the help of Julia Alexandra Heidinger (Merci!). You can find the results in the picture attached. (The text about negotiations is a snippet of my thesis actually.) Check out the events of leadHER and START Hamburg if you would like to participate in some cool workshops, develop your skills and connect with engaging people in Hamburg. What is a skill you would like to learn?

?? Why I’ve been silent on LinkedIn for the past 15 days… The last two weeks have been nothing short of an exhilarating rollercoaster! ?? Our team was racing against the clock to launch an edtech product that we've been passionately working on. Being one of the frontend developers on this project, I had the immense responsibility to freeze the entire frontend codebase, complete testing, and prepare for launch within a tight deadline. Here’s what I learned during this intense sprint: ?? Prioritization is key: With a deadline looming, knowing what to focus on and what to park for later was critical. ?? Teamwork makes the dream work: Collaborating with an amazing team ensured we tackled roadblocks swiftly and kept the momentum alive. ? Testing is non-negotiable: A product might look great, but ensuring it works seamlessly for users is what matters most. ?? Adaptability wins: Tight deadlines push you to think on your feet, adapt quickly, and keep moving forward. Finally, seeing the product go live and knowing it will make a difference in the lives of learners is a reward like no other. ?? To my fellow developers and tech enthusiasts: these sprints might be tough, but they remind us why we love what we do. Here's to growth, learning, and launching products that matter! ??? Have you ever been in a similar crunch before? I’d love to hear how you navigated it! ?? #FrontendDevelopment #EdTech #ProductLaunch #Teamwork #LearningJourney

Want to Win a Hackathon? Build the Right Team First!?? Building your hackathon team is your foundation for winning the hackathon. 1. The vibe should match: You should enjoy working with your teammates. If the vibe doesn’t match, you won’t have fun coding together, and if it’s not fun, then productivity will drop. Without that, the creativity required for building will fail. 2. Find a balanced team: The skills should complement each other. For example, in my team, there’s one frontend guy, one backend guy, one app developer, and one full stack dev—that’s balance for me. 3. Teammates should be grinders: It shouldn’t be that you assign a task to a teammate to build a community forum feature, and after 5 hours, they come back saying they failed. If Sharvin Gavad says he will build a booking management system with AI, I consider it done. Because I know he’ll find a way to build it, even if he gets stuck. If someone isn’t building their feature, the task allocation gets messed up, and someone else will have to pick it up, costing time and other features. In my case, it’s always been me and Sharvin, with the other two team members changing—maybe Soham Parab and Slayde Sequeira for app dev (crazy app developers), Zane Falcao with Flask/ML, Chhand Chaughule with Django backend skills, and Myron Dabreo/Neston Cabral with full stack skills and awesome static pages. 4. Never let egoistic people into your team: No one in my team thinks they’re the GOAT or can do everything alone. Attitude is important. Hackathon duration is short, and you don’t have time for arguments or conflicts with other team members.

As a mentee, I'm privileged to learn from amazing mentors who shape my path. I want to share a special thank you to Foysal Ahamed for your guidance and support, and Thea Silayro for providing this great opportunity to learn and grow! #MentorTogether Feedback Summary: - Great to focus on React Native. - Bigger clients need help with native experience at some point, experience that I don’t have so I would focus on: 1. Improving Testing coverage 2. Migration to Expo 3. Streamlining app distribution with EAS expertise Areas for Improvement: - Too many items, consider simplifying. - Limit to only 3 steps. Suggestions: - Repetition of the call to action. - Better value proposition. - First call to action: Free call.
