The recent proposal, Bill 212 – Reducing Gridlock, Saving You Time Act, 2024, proposed by The Ministry of Transportation on October 21st would prohibit the installation of bike lanes when motor vehicle lanes are removed, as well as exclude highway 413’s environmental impact process and assessment. Prabmeet Sarkaria Doug Ford, Ontario Society of Professional Engineers also agree. Bill 212 is against common sense. Save lives and the environment. Add new bike lanes on busy streets, not the other way. Your children will thank you. It is ok to admit of being wrong, it is only human.
Hm. I agree with the content of the article, but the headline is perplexing ("...Rethink Bike Lanes..."). (That said, 'bike lane' projects may have a branding issue: These are projects that improve safety for all street users, and should be cast as such.)
Seems to be that Premier Ford will be losing votes over this.

3 个月When OSPE, OTC, OPPI, OPHA, Good Roads, and AMO all oppose Bill 212 you have to admit this legislation is flawed. Research, data and expertise should prevail over whimsical political decision making.
