#PayItForwardFriday comes at you with yet another deep fake - but real golf shots may be coming soon.... ?? This PIFF come from mid-June and features 3 gentlemen who help me aspire to be a part of their group of #BetterMen In case you hadn't heard - we like to do business with people we enjoy and share commonalities. As I have said many times - golf is a great opportunity to get insights into many facets of a person - but even then, there are things yet to be revealed. ?? (Admittedly - sometimes they MAY have to be remembered vs revealed - but I digress.) Anyway - let's start with my newest and camera friendly pal - Andy Torres, P.E. (CA). Analytical, introspective and rising like a Phoenix - he and his team at 9th St. Partners, LLC throw darts with their industrial infill projects like he throws darts to the green. ? We recently had a steel-sharpens-steel lunch discussing hardships and lessons learned that connected us on a much deeper level - with more to come. Next up, my man St. Mark Hill. What kind of man is he? Well - he just got back from a @HomesofHope mission with his family building houses for the homeless in Tijuana. He also introduced me to both of the other gents in this group - and he even has the #grace to let me beat him in golf. ?? If Mark can build house with a crew consisting of (no offense) just his family - imagine what he and the crew at Alston Construction can do for your GC needs! His recent post on the subject inspired the Clements family to go in search of a homebuilding project. (If you have one coming up - feel free to DM me.) How's that for leadership? Finally, from the lofty rafters of the millions of sq feet he has helped create - Mr. Richard Rutecki from Shea Commercial Properties, Inc. Not much introduction needed. Rick and I recently had a lunch and after I finally shut up, he got to speak. We got down to some raw authenticity that I will never forget. He smacked me with some truth like he smacks his driver off the tee. I embraced his candor and I think it strengthened our relationship. It is not hyperbole to say that my relationship with Rick comes through the grace of #God. All of these gentlemen had the patience to let me tell #thestory I am at this point, compelled to tell. Yet, in the end - it was THEIR #Faith #Integrity #Authenticity and #Fellowship that I was struck by. If you don't know these gents - there's a hole in your armor. I'm sure they will thank me if your flood their inbox.... ?? Have a great weekend and enjoy all that is provided!! ?? ??? ??? ???????? ?? #FQFAdvisors #GodIsGood #Networking

36 Hours of Insight, Action, and Connection Just returned from a whirlwind 36-hour trip that took me from Fort Worth to San Angelo and Abilene, and back again. Each stop brought its own set of revelations and responsibilities, underlining the relentless pace of progress in our ventures. ?? On the Road: Kicked off with a drive to San Angelo, touring our properties, and engaging directly with our laundromat operations and shopping centers. We’re committed to excellence and continuous improvement—it was enlightening to see the impact of recent upgrades and also note areas where we need to step up our game. ?? Community Engagement: Delivered children’s books to our laundromats. It’s always uplifting to see these spaces thriving, becoming community hubs that go beyond just providing services, but also enriching lives. ???♂? Personal Reflection: Each day began with meditation and an early workout—fueling the body and mind for effective leadership. ??? Strategic Discussions: In Abilene, a meaningful lunch with a business partner not only strengthened our bond but also helped us align our visions for future growth. ?? Exploring New Opportunities: Visited potential sites for new laundromats, met with tenants, and engaged with the community, reaffirming our commitment to expanding our presence thoughtfully and impactfully. ?? Continuous Learning: On the drive back, listened to Richard Rohr’s Immortal Diamond. His insights paralleled the deep conversations I had about our strategic direction and growth. ?? Team Collaboration: Ended the journey with crucial conversations with partners, setting a solid plan of action. This trip was a potent reminder of the power of focused energy and intentional actions. I’m grateful for the amazing team and community we’re building with. Here’s to making every mile and every moment count toward creating value and positive change. Also..I have driven by this bridge at least 20 times on my way to/from San Angelo. Finally took a moment to snap a few photos. Life is beautiful. #RealEstateDevelopment #BusinessGrowth #Laundromats #Kaizen #CommunityBuilding #Leadership #ContinuousImprovement

It drives me B ?? A ??N ?? A?? N??A ??S when leadership can be EASY and it's CHOSEN to not be ---------- Example: The Friday Morning Swim Club vs The City of Chicago -------- Long Story Short: One Friday a guy went swimming in Lake Michigan And every Friday after that, for the duration of the summer And slowly people started to join Eventually, it grew a MASSIVE following People were coming in droves to downtown Chicago's lakefront To jump in the frigid cold lake in the middle of the summer Every Friday morning For THREE years It became so big that it hit national news It drew in a global audience Hundreds of people attended! And then... This summer The City of Chicago said NO ?? ---------- The City cited that it was too big of an event The group needed to pay for $108,000 in permits There weren't any lifeguards They were on a Lollapalooza level of scale The group organizing the Swim Club went to the City with reasonable solutions and realistic ideas for solving the issues Only to be told NO ?? ---------- The City has a bad reputation for >>>violence >>>carjackings >>>smash and grabs I have friends and family who live in the suburbs and refuse to go to the City Here, we have a group of really amazing humans who >>>have built a community >>>changed the *scary* narrative of downtown >>>made Chicago a place people WANT to visit And the opportunity for Chicago's leadership to take advantage of that >>>To create a partnership >>>Do something unexpected and amazing >>>To LEAD and show off how Chicago is the BEST city EVER >>>To prove that there is still faith in bureaucratic/political/municipal leadership It was missed They failed ---------- Here's the moral of the story: Look for the opportunities you can CHOOSE to >>>Be reasonable >>>Strive for a win win >>>Create a sense of community >>>Lead in the gray These Leaders win because they've won the people who follow them #Leadership #Chicago

#Team #culture is a fundamental principle for team success. If left to develop on its own, the outcome will result in a mixed bag of results. Build the team through intentional engagement and the successes will come more frequently. Team Utah 1 Unplanned Success 0
Work hard, play hard ?? There's nothing better after a long day than a little friendly competition with your office mates! The Auxiliary Business Development team recently went bowling together and the contrasting ability/skill level was absolutely hilarious. Today, us Scots celebrate St. Andrew’s Day, I’m reflecting on the incredible legacy of Scotland—a small country with a massive impact on the world. From our rolling hills to our lochs, our landscapes are breathtaking, but for me it’s the sheer ingenuity of our people that truly defines us. Scotland has always been a land of ideas. ?????????????? Adam Smith, the father of economics, taught the world about the invisible hand of the market—but also the importance of fairness and morality. ?????????????? James Watt revolutionised the Industrial Age with the steam engine, reshaping how the world worked and lived. ?????????????? Alexander Graham Bell gave us the telephone, changing how we connect across the world. These are just some of the countless Scots whose innovations have shaped humanity. It’s a legacy of bold thinking, unrelenting curiosity, and a deep drive to improve the world. I like to think I emulate that spirit!! St. Andrew’s Day reminds us of these values: humility, collaboration, and resilience in the face of challenges. As a proud Scot, I carry these values with me every day. Our history isn’t just something to look back on—it’s a foundation for what we can build in the future. Let’s celebrate Scotland not only for what it has achieved, but for what it continues to inspire. What innovation or moment in Scottish history inspires you most? PS I will from Monday begin publishing the analysis from my polls on industry reforms. #bigcoatweather #scottish #standrewsday

What inspired me to work in the affordable housing industry? Can't wait to hear from our panelists Nov 18th in the Windy City! Two pivotal experiences shaped my path: Volunteering for @Junior Achievement each year in Charlotte, NC. I learned firsthand about food insecurity, financial struggle, and unsafe neighborhoods. I’ll never forget asking the children what they were dressing up as for Halloween—one little boy burst into tears because his mom couldn’t afford a costume, and none of the students trick-or-treated in their own neighborhood.? (Happy to report my team at PwC bought the entire class costumes.) Poverty Simulation hosted for employees by PwC opened my eyes to the uphill battle faced by those financially behind. Simple things like having direct deposit versus riding a bus to a check-cashing agency, or the dilemma of sick children keeping a parent from work translating to no pay for that day (no paid PTO), reminded me how fragile financial stability can be. These experiences gave me a deep sense of purpose—to help ensure that everyone has access to safe, affordable housing and the opportunity to live in thriving communities. It’s about creating security, opportunity, and dignity for all. #AffordableHousing
Who inspired you to do the work you're doing? For many of us, the answer is family: our mothers, grandmothers, daughters and sisters. At WAHN's Windy City Luncheon, we'll be focusing on Generational Strength, and hearing from some affordable housing powerhouses about their journeys and the impact their families had on them. Join us at noon on November 18th at Swissotel Chicago to hear from Tracey Scott of the Chicago Housing Authority, Cissy Watson and Ali Watson of Mansermar Development, LLC, Guacolda Reyes of The Resurrection Project and Cat Vielma of Red Stone Equity Partners LLC They embody Generational Strength, and we're excited to hear their stories of leadership, family legacy, and the future of housing.
