Election day is just a few days away! In addition to the local, state, and federal offices on the ballot, there will be TWO REFERENDUM QUESTIONS for Fridley Public Schools. 1?? Question #1 is an operating referendum of $424 per pupil unit. 2?? Question #2 is a $30 million facility bond referendum to address our deferred maintenance needs. Two measures will be on the November 5, 2024, ballot for the Fridley Public Schools. The two measures will be included on the general election ballot. The first will ask voters to approve a voter-approved operating referendum of $424 per pupil unit. If approved, the operating referendum will have a preliminary tax impact of $163 per year on a $313,780 home, the average home value in Fridley. The second question is a $30 million facility bond referendum. An approved bond would have no tax impact on district residents. This is possible due to other district bond levies ending. ? On our election ballot this year is Referendum Question A. It would raise the Personal Property Rax Exemption for buainesses feom $7,500 to $20,000. PLEASE vote YES! Small businesses are the foundation of Georgia’s economy, but they’re overburdened with high taxes, making it harder to compete with Wall Street giants and businesses in neighboring states. Georgia’s small businesses already pay sales taxes on equipment, desks, and other property. But our state’s tangible personal property tax means they’re paying taxes on the same items year after year. Repeatedly taxing small businesses on the same equipment makes growing, creating jobs, and supporting their communities challenging. Referendum Question A raises the exemption threshold for this excessive tax burden, easing financial pressures on local and family businesses already struggling with inflation that drives up their costs.
