Hello all! I wanted to share some real talk about my experience as a graphic design student. I've applied to plenty of internships, only to face rejection. The design field is very competitive, and it's easy to get discouraged. But here's the thing that takes a while for people to understand, and that is that rejection isn't failure. It's a chance to grow and focus on what really matters. For me, that means building a solid portfolio and embracing the process. I've learned that it's not about landing the perfect internship, it's about staying passionate and persevering. Design is a JOURNEY, not a DESTINATION. Mistakes are lessons, and your worth isn't defined by external validation. To all my fellow creatives and design students: don't let rejection bring you down. Celebrate small wins and build meaningful connections.

From Fonts to Colors: Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V story Internships are supposed to be like a blockbuster journey—full of learning, drama, and growth. But for graphic design interns, it often feels like being stuck as a junior artist in the same scene: "Change the font, colors adjust the spacing, repeat." I get it, companies can’t hand over the lead role in big projects. But at least give interns a supporting role! Let them work on small parts of bigger projects instead of turning them into a social media post machine. How many fonts can one person change before it feels like “Gharwale, ab mujhe lene aao!” I’ve been there too, during my graphic design days—living the “Ek tha intern” story. My friends are now reliving the same plot, and it’s giving me full-on Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Fonts vibes. Dear companies, interns are here to learn, not just play for your social media routine. Give them something to feel excited about—or at least throw in a twist more exciting than Comic Sans! #GraphicDesign #InternLife #DesignInternships #LearningByDoing #CreativeStruggles #DesignJourney #UXDesign #CareerGrowth #FreshersExperience #InternshipDiaries #DesignProcess #CreativeLearning #GraphicDesignLife #DesignerThoughts #WorkAndLearn

You need to be able to apply your soft skills along with your core skills to be able to succeed in your field. No matter what the field is.
During university, I took up a graphic design internship with Suffiyan Malik to create logos and posters; and even dabbled in teaching peers. Fast forward to today, I work as a data engineer. Surprisingly, the skill that gets the most praise isn’t just my technical knowledge; it’s my ability to break down complex technical topics into easy-to-understand diagrams for non-technical audiences. It turns out the skill I thought was just a “side thing” became a key differentiator. I’ve seen similar cases too. A friend who works in sales used to write fiction novels and shared that his clients remember his stories far better than statistics or generic pitches; and that little creative habit of writing became one of the reasons he started closing more deals. Don’t downplay the skills that seem unrelated to your current job. Those “extra” skills could be the reason you stand out and bring unique value.
