Food waste is a problem that affects us all. Whether it's throwing away leftovers or discarding produce that is still perfectly edible, the impact is significant. Farmers, store staff, cooks, and consumers all play a role in reducing food waste. By buying less, buying smarter, and freezing leftovers, we can all make a difference. But there's also another group that is working to tackle this issue: the team at FoodCloud. Their efforts to help stores reduce waste are making a real impact. #food #innovation #wastereduction #lateristoolate

What we eat is so important for so many reasons.
?? Happy World Conservation Day! ?? As the single strongest lever to optimize human health and environmental sustainability on Earth, food has a crucial role to play in conservation efforts. That’s why we’re working every day to rewrite the narrative to encourage food choices that preserve and protect the planet. ??? Here’s how we’re equipping others to make a difference: ?? Serving up plants by default: With Better Food Foundation and Sodexo, we shifted the norm in all-you-care-to-eat dining halls by making plant-based meals the default option, resulting in a nearly 25% decrease in meal-related greenhouse gas emissions. Now we’re working to make it easy for more colleges to do the same. ??? How to talk about food and climate training: Our interactive workshops help city leaders and organizations effectively communicate the appeal of sustainable food choices. ?? Aquatic foods communication toolkits: We crafted a series of research-based, actionable toolkits to promote sea vegetables, clams, oysters, scallops, and mussels and preserve our oceans. Our toolkits help professionals across foodservice, CPG, nutrition, and health to talk about these climate-smart foods in a way that inspires eaters to want to try them. Is sustaining your life and business important for your growth? Confused in you life! Finding solution? Then click on read more and find solution in the story. The Green Plate: Good Food, Better Future In the lovely town of Green Vale, a new restaurant called The Green Plate quickly became popular. Mia, the owner and chef, loved fresh food and cared a lot about the environment. Her restaurant was special because it helped take care of the planet. Mia started by dealing with waste. She made sure food scraps were turned into compost and used only things that could break down easily or be reused for packing food to go. She even gave a discount to customers who brought their own boxes for leftovers. Next, Mia focused on where she got her food from. She chose to buy vegetables, dairy, and meats from nearby farms. This helped local farmers and meant less pollution from trucks that bring food over long distances. Plus, the food was fresher and tasted better. But Mia didn’t stop there. She grew herbs and some vegetables on the restaurant’s roof and used them in the kitchen. She also put solar panels on the roof to make electricity from sunlight, which powered her kitchen and kept the lights on. The Green Plate was also a place for learning. Mia set up a corner in the restaurant where she taught people how to cook in ways that are good for the environment. She also put up a board that showed how the restaurant was doing in saving water and reducing waste. As time went on, The Green Plate became more than just a restaurant. It stood as a strong example of how businesses can help the environment. Mia faced challenges like not getting enough supplies sometimes or dealing with changes in the weather that affected her rooftop garden. But she kept going, showing everyone that being sustainable takes time and you have to keep at it. Mia’s work showed everyone in Green Vale that making better choices for the environment is a journey. The Green Plate did more than just serve great food; it helped the whole community see how they could make a difference in taking care of our planet, proving that even small choices can make a big impact. #BusinessJourney #SustainableDining #EcoFriendlyEats #FarmToTable #LocalFlavors #EcoChef #SolarPoweredDining #ReduceReuseEat #CommunityGrowth #GreenEating

"Food justice is more than just growing food and feeding people. It’s about creating a sustainable system where the community can have a say in the policies that govern their food systems and have access to healthy, fresh, affordable food." – Karen Washington, Co-Founder of Black Urban Growers (BUGS) Karen Washington has long championed the idea that food justice is rooted in community control and self-reliance. She’s been on the front lines of advocating for equitable food systems, ensuring that **urban farming** and local food production empower communities to grow their own food and shape the policies that affect them. ?? Why is this important? Because food justice isn’t just about what's on our plates—it’s about who has the power to decide what’s grown, how it's distributed, and who gets to benefit. ?? Let’s continue the fight for a more just, sustainable food system by supporting local growers, advocating for food policies that reflect our community's needs, and ensuring everyone has access to healthy, affordable food. #FoodJustice #CommunityPower #UrbanFarming #KarenWashington #BlackUrbanGrowers #SustainableFoodSystems #HealthyFoodForAll #WANDAAction #FoodSovereignty

?? The Local Farm Festival: Building Towards a Greater 2025 ?? Last year marked the debut of The Local Farm Festival—a milestone where we celebrated our local farmers, showcased farm-fresh produce, and connected communities over the importance of sustainable living. Seeing the incredible support and enthusiasm from everyone reaffirmed the power of community-driven efforts to shape a more resilient food ecosystem. As we looked to 2024, we made a conscious decision to pause and rethink how we can make an even bigger impact. The challenges and opportunities in the local food landscape have deepened our resolve to create a festival that does more than inspire; we want it to be a catalyst for meaningful change. The Local Farm Festival 2025 will expand on our commitment to building a "Farm-to-Table-to-Farm" movement—a platform where farmers, businesses, consumers, and advocates collaborate to strengthen our local food supply chain and champion sustainability together. We’re gearing up for a festival that connects B2B and B2C audiences through engaging conversations, interactive showcases, and a spirit of innovation. Our goal is to foster greater awareness, build stronger networks, and drive real solutions that support our local farming community and sustainable food practices. If you’re passionate about food security, sustainability, or simply want to support our local farms, let’s connect! We’re seeking partners, contributors, and like-minded individuals who want to help shape a thriving ecosystem. Together, we can elevate our community and create a meaningful impact—one step at a time. #TheLocalFarmFestival #TheLocalFarm #Sustainability #FoodSecurity #CommunityBuilding #FarmToTable #Collaboration #NoFarmersNoFood
