A second large fire in Alabama has already been contained. A total of 52 fires have been reported nationwide in 2025 thus far. Leon County is preparing for extremely low temperatures and possible snowfall through Thursday, and several measures are in place to keep residents safe. Cold Night Shelters will be open from Sunday night through Friday morning to provide warmth for those in need. County Public Works has prepped sand trucks to improve traction on roads and bridges, starting early Tuesday. Emergency Medical Services are closely monitoring conditions and adjusting staffing levels to respond effectively, while law enforcement is coordinating safety measures, such as traffic detours if necessary.
