Current Situation:?Overnight there was minimal burning activity on the fire. Crews worked on extinguishing hotspots within the fire perimeter. Today, two Forest Service Hotshot crews will be flown into the upper portion of the fire and plan to stay overnight. This will help minimize travel time and safety concerns due to the extremely steep terrain. Firefighters will continue to improve the fireline expecting to increase containment. Weather forecasts will be hot and dry through July 24 or July 25. With temperatures reaching 102 degrees and low relative humidity between 8% and 20%. Winds are expected to gust up to 18 MPH in the afternoon and evening hours. The combination of high temperatures, low humidity, and gusty winds will remain a concern for a potential increase in fire activity. Just did a little research on the Cal-Fire website. Since 2017 (under Brown and Newsom) here’s what has happened to California. Total Acres Burned: 12,385,928 Total Structures Lost: 51,651 With current LA estimates: Total Acres Burned: 12,426,228 For context, that’s about equivalent to all the acres (or square miles if you prefer) in Vermont and New Hampshire combined. Total Structures Lost: 63,651 That’s the cost of mismanagement.

Quidnessett Country Club's illegally built wall has been up for over 400 days since a cease and desist order was presented to the country club on August 28, 2023. CRMC staff have recommended denying Quidnessett’s petition to change the water type classification, a move that, if approved, could allow the illegally built wall to stand. We side with the coastal scientists and engineers who make the following arguments about the detrimental effects of a structural wall in the area: -The shoreline area in the proposal is particularly unsuitable for structures due to the area’s exposure to severe wave action and erosion, which could potentially lead to further erosion and loss of coastal beach and lateral access beyond the area of proposed reclassification. -The long-term resiliency of the coastal wetland and tidal marsh will be reduced, accelerating habitat loss, including for the state-endangered and protected diamondback terrapin.
