Talking about funeral arrangements may not be the most pleasant conversation, however it might be easier to sit down and talk it over a cup of tea or coffee. However you feel, it is important to remember that you are trying to spare your loved ones from unnecessary stress if the unexpected occurs. A good way to beginning the discussion is with a few questions and considerations: - Have you thought about whether you prefer cremation or burial? - What songs would you like to be played at your funeral? - Are there any specific funeral wishes you'd like to share? Regardless of your preferences, it's vital to communicate your wishes. A simple way to ensure this is by creating a Will. By having these conversations and planning ahead, you provide peace of mind for yourself and your loved ones, guaranteeing that your final farewell truly reflects your unique life. #SLSWillsAndMore #Wills #SeeMeBeforeYouGo #FuneralPlans #FuneralPlanning #PlanForTomorrow

To support the theme of language for this year’s #DyingMatters Week, Funeral Choice researched the UK’s understanding of funeral terminology. 41% – or 2 in 5 – don’t know what a direct cremation is; despite it being the fastest growing type of funeral in the UK. 1 in 3 people (33%) don’t know what a hearse is. Over a third (36%) of people are unfamiliar with natural burials. Disbursements is the most confusing term meaning families are surprised with extra and unexpected fees at an already expensive time. It is the most confusing term, as only 13% know the correct definition. Almost a quarter (23%) don’t know that a eulogy is a speech delivered in memory of someone at a funeral. Only 52% knew that a committal is a graveside ceremony where the body or ashes are put into the ground. Almost half (48%) don’t know the term interment and that it means burying a person’s body or ashes. Alix Baldwin, director of Funeral Choice commented on the survey results: “Our research highlights a clear need for strong communication between the public and the funeral industry to make sure conversations around death and funerals are transparent; and that the person planning the funeral gets exactly what they intended. We’re committed to clearer communication around funerals to make them accessible for all, and as seamless as possible. Which is why we have created a funeral glossary as an easy-to-follow guide for people.” There is such a lack of knowledge which is why we believe families deserve a face-to-face, experienced and compassionate experience when dealing with anything post-death. We also champion more education surrounding death and what to do when someone dies. https://lnkd.in/eKU3snYq #deatheducationinschools #whattodowhensomeonedies #helpingthebereaved
