The Las Vegas Natural History Museum (LVNHM) is teaming up with Goodwill of Southern Nevada next year to raise funds that will support the museum’s family-friendly educational programming through the Goodwill Care-to-Care Nonprofit Fundraising Partnership. In celebration of Goodwill's 50th-anniversary celebration, the LVNHM is one of 12 local nonprofits selected to benefit from this year-long fundraising campaign. Throughout the month of May, Goodwill shoppers will have the opportunity to support the LVNHM by making a donation at the register. This simple act can make a significant impact on the museum's ability to continue its mission of education, research, and preservation. The campaign aims to raise between $5,000 and $10,000 for each participating nonprofit, including the LVNHM. By shopping at Goodwill and donating to the LVNHM, you can help ensure that the museum can continue to inspire and educate visitors of all ages.

Revity Credit Union has launched its 2025 Jeans Program, “Threads of Kindness”, with a donation of $1,515 to the Edwardsville Arts Center. This program, funded by employees, allows Revity Credit Union staff to embody the credit union's philosophy of people helping people. By contributing a monthly monetary donation to a local organization, employees can enjoy wearing jeans and tennis shoes on Fridays and Saturdays throughout that month. In 2025, Revity Credit Union is committed to impactful giving and community support, weaving kindness into the fabric of our daily lives and ensuring that every jeans day makes a difference. The Edwardsville Arts Center was nominated as the recipient of our January Threads of Kindness donation, receiving $1,515. As a 501?3 non-profit community visual arts organization, the Edwardsville Arts center aims to inspire the lives of youth and the creative spirit of adults through classes, exhibits and cultural events. With a dedicated team of passionate artists and educators, the center offers a wide range of programs designed to engage and enrich the community. From art classes and summer camps to gallery exhibitions and outreach initiatives, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Back in May I won a random non-profit 50/50 draw (Yay me!). But in typical Kirk fashion, I went... "What if I use this to play other 50/50s and do research on the state of charitable gaming" 40 raffles (not all 50/50s!) later, I've got lots of data including different experiences upon winning (7 so far...), different ways that raffles have been organized, executed, and communicated, as well as a whole lot of spreadsheets that actually track, predict, and project into the future. A phenomenal female DJ set the perfect vibe, followed by two high school comedians who had us laughing until our sides hurt. It was pure magic—a celebration of creativity, community, and the transformative power of the arts. But events like this don’t just happen. They’re made possible by the belief that art can change lives—and by people like you who want to be part of something bigger. ?? Non-profits think for them to get donations, they need to ask for money. But the reality is, if you do it right… you won’t need to ask! Here’s 1 thing we do to raise money without even asking for donations ?? I see so many non-profits who say things like “donate now!” But the reality is, all you need to do is… → Show them the impact their donation could make. ??”Donate to us, we do arts with kids” ??Showcase how a child’s life changed by finding art. ??”Donate today & we’ll give meals to the homeless.” ??Show them a video of how a free meal changed the trajectory of someone's life. Because when it comes to getting people to give up their money, for 80% of people, words won’t be enough. Video shows the potential donor the true reality of the situation & this sparks emotion. And this emotion is what gets people to donate! So next time you want to raise money… Don’t think, how can I tell people to donate → Show people the real-world impact their donation would have. And it could look a little something like this ??
