An incredible evening with a $176 billion founder. ?? A great event with the Foundrs gang last night. Kicking off with a mind blowing discussion on ‘what the future holds’ with Hermann Hauser, founder of multiple businesses including ARM Holdings, Acorn Computers, and Amadeus Capital Partners. Aside from the amazing stories shared by Hermann and the exciting view he has on what the future could look like from his perspective, it was great to hear the reinforcing view on how he chooses his investments. The three key areas, in this order. 1 - market size and growth of the market 2 - the team and the star individual(s) involved 3 - the technology itself “An A team with C technology will beat a C team with A technology”. Superb validation, agreeing with my shared view that the people are what makes it a success. Great execution trumps a great idea. ?? The entire value of the #startup ecosystem, fundamentally comes from founders, people building things, people taking risks, people learning so fast and pivoting so hard, it's brutal. Not the VCs, not the events, not the press or Forbes lists but #founders. That's the one piece you take out and you can't make a startup anymore. Everyone else, the startups are known to have survived. It's difficult but somehow at least some founders figure it out. The ecosystem plays a role, a very important one, but the ecosystem is for #founder, not the other way round. So if you're a founder, remember this. #onepiece
