Question of the Week - COBRA After Dependent Eligibility Audit Q.- We conducted a dependent eligibility audit and found about 30 people who were enrolled in our health plan as a dependent but didn’t meet the plan’s eligibility requirements. Some were just friends of employees, others were children in their 30s. We are removing the individuals from health coverage, but do we have to offer them COBRA? It is clear that deregulation of health care and raising the costs for the most vulnerable will not improve the US failed condition. Providing only for those who are least likely to get sick (at least for now) and denying basic healthcare for those who can least afford it as it exists now will assure another massive failure in defense against future pandemics.
