Today is an important day #veteransday. Much overlap with PTSD in veterans and OCD. In fact, did you know that "in OCD patients with a diagnosis of PTSD, 10.6% had the OCD diagnosis emerge either concurrently or after PTSD (posttraumatic OCD), and 4.1% had an OCD diagnosis that occurred before PTSD." #OCD #PTSD #veteransmentalhealth #mentalhealth https://lnkd.in/e_ee3YFe

Remembrance Day will soon be here. There are a lot of people focused on preparations for paying tribute to our veterans. Wearing a poppy symbolizes remembering and honoring them. Sharing their stories keeps them in our hearts and thoughts before and beyond the day. There are many stories about their bravery and the sacrifices made by all who fought for the freedoms most people take for granted today. There are also many untold stories. Stories that veterans don't think we could handle or understand. Stories of fear, loneliness, isolation. Stories that we may never hear. This year, let's remember to respect our veterans too. Listen to their stories from a place of gratitude. Think about the lifestyle you have because of the life they lived. Try putting yourself in their shoes. I think of our military today and how few people want to be part of it. I think about what is happening around the world right now. I think about how the world is changing. I think that if we really want to pay tribute to our veterans, we should focus on peace. Maybe for one day everyone could be more accepting of others and their differences. Maybe for one day we could look for resolutions through communication instead of violence. Maybe for one day you could be the example of respect, understanding, and compassion towards others. And maybe that one day will lead to more of those days .......... November 11 is Remembrance Day. Every day is a good day to remember and a great day to be someone that our veterans would be proud of. Veterans Day: A Time for Respect, Not Judgment On Veterans Day, many Veterans find themselves feeling a mix of pride and discomfort. While the day is meant to honor those who served, not everyone feels respected or appreciated for their service. Society’s views on veterans can be complicated—ranging from genuine gratitude to indifference, and at times, outright judgment. Regardless of political affiliation, Veterans Day should be a time to come together and honor the sacrifices made by our military community. Service members come from all backgrounds and beliefs, united in a commitment to protect our nation. To my fellow veterans: Don’t be ashamed of your service. We know the courage and dedication it took to wear the uniform. Veterans Day is a reminder of our resilience and unity, no matter how society chooses to view us. Let’s honor each other with respect and pride, even if it doesn’t always come from outside. To everyone else, consider that respect and empathy go a long way.
