LinkedIn friends, DYO Investments has grown from zero to 1.1million square feet of commercial real estate in 12 years, and we have a plan to continue that growth trajectory. Due to a recent departure, we are looking to hire a FP&A associate/manager who is interested in learning our business and ideally growing into a Controller/CFO of a decent-sized company one day. What will this job entail? Keeping the trains on time- financial reporting, taxes and investor relations tasks never stop. The status quo isn't bad, but the status quo can always be beaten. Being present- we are an in-office company. The office is where we all come to learn, solve problems and grow. We have nothing against remote work, but it's not the right model for our company. Caring about the Culture- with only half a dozen people in the back office, everyone on our team has a "MBA" (mop bucket attitude). About 5-6 times a year, there are times when I have to open the mail myself. I like it...there is no job here that is below anyone, regardless of what their title is.

Hire a great CFO/Head of finance sooner rather than later. A mistake I see a lot of founders make is to wait too long or hire too junior. Once you’re scaling quickly (especially if you’re a fintech), don’t even think about hiring someone mediocre in this role. A great CFO pays for themselves very quickly: ? They’ll sort/optimize tax & treasury stuff ? They close books faster than you could ever do ? They build accounting systems and processes (imp for regulated entities) ? Trust me, implementing an ERP is not as easy as you think (I’ve failed at it) They’ll then build out the rest of the finance function with their specialist network
