Hello everyone, On October 20th I will be running the Toronto Waterfront Marathon to raise funds for the WoodGreen organization. The WoodGreen organization provides financial literacy and empowerment services to young, at-risk individuals and low-income families across the city. Many of you share my passion for finance and economics. While this passion can allow us to understand the macroeconomic factors troubling everyday families, it can be easy to lose sight of the devastating impacts of poor money management. Approximately 50% of Canadians are living paycheque-to-paycheque, finding it increasingly difficult to manage expenses and navigate mounting personal debt. Furthermore, statistics show that those of us in low-income groups are up to ten times more likely to have an insufficient understanding of personal finance, often also lacking financial advisory resources. For these reasons, organizations like WoodGreen change lives. Small donations can fund resources that can provide youth and young families with learning opportunities they desperately need. We live in a beautiful land of opportunity and contributing to change ensures that we can all leverage that opportunity to maximize our potential.
