At Prima, we know a patient's fertility journey is more than just a set of numbers and results on a screen. In latest blog series, Fertility Journeys Beyond the Case Files, Jenni Quilter, the author of Hatching: Experiments in Motherhood and Technology (2022), has interviewed five women who went through different pathways to build a family. Over the next few weeks, we'll be sharing their unique experiences going through IVF on our online blog library. Check out our first article, which includes an excerpt from Hatching, below: https://lnkd.in/eRigjsRB

IVF is failing most women. The fundamental problem is that fertility is still shockingly poorly understood. But new research holds out hope of a revolution After louise brown was born in Manchester in July 1978, her parents’ neighbours were surprised to see that the world’s first “test-tube baby” was “normal”: two eyes, ten fingers, ten toes. In the 45 years since, in vitro fertilisation has become the main treatment for infertility around the world. At least 12m people have been conceived in glassware. An ivf baby takes its first gulp of air roughly every 45 seconds. ivf babies are just as healthy and unremarkable as any others. Yet to their parents, most of whom struggle with infertility for months or years, they are nothing short of miraculous. In a world where one person in six suffers from infertility, such successes are rightly celebrated. Less discussed are the problems of ivf. Most courses of treatment fail. That subjects women and couples to cycles of dreaming and dejection—and gives the fertility industry an incentive to sell false hope. The obstacle is a lack of progress in understanding the basic mechanisms that determine fertility. At last, however, the science is making headway, holding out more promise and less heartache for generations of parents to come.

Over 12 million IVF babies have been born worldwide, and over 2.5 million IVF cycles are being performed every year. IVF offers hope and a chance to individuals and couples, but it is never a guarantee. Every embryo doesn't equal a baby. 1 in 6 experience infertility, and this number continues to grow. Right now, IVF patients everywhere are terrified. We are also sad, heartbroken, angry, confused, worried, and so tired... If dealing with infertility wasn't hard enough, there is now this added heaviness and fear weighing on us. There are just so many unknowns, and as an IVF patient, it often feels like our rights are being questioned, taken away, and diminished. This isn't the first time we've had to fight as patients, and it's exhausting. The emotional impact of this is significant. What can we do? Vote, use our voice, support advocacy and fertility organizations, and stay up to date on what's happening. We must continue to fight! #reproductiverights #ivf RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association Doctors For Fertility American Society for Reproductive Medicine - ASRM

From Challenges to Success: Kelli’s Inspiring IVF Journey ??? In this inspiring episode of Heart to Heart, Dr. Janelle Luk welcomes Dr. Jesse Hade, Director of Third Party Reproduction at Generation Next Fertility, and former patient Kelli to share her extraordinary journey to motherhood. Navigating infertility can be one of life’s most emotionally and physically taxing experiences. For Kelli, her journey included low ovarian reserve, multiple IVF cycles, and even the heartbreak of miscarriage. But through persistence, innovative treatments like PRP therapy, and the support of the team at Generation Next Fertility, she is now 31 weeks pregnant! Kelli emphasizes that flexibility and trusting the process helped her overcome each hurdle. “Persistence was key. I didn’t know much about my reproductive health before starting, but I trusted my doctors and took things one step at a time.” Her journey also highlights how cutting-edge treatments like Luteal Phase Stimulation (LPS) and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) can improve outcomes, especially for patients with diminished ovarian reserve. Her story is a testament to how determination and evolving treatment strategies can turn challenges into success. We’re honored to have been part of her journey at Generation Next Fertility. We started as a patient discovery e-store for Fertility Clinics and understood that there is a gap in the market where content challenging the stigma around IVF is not well articulated. We saw the presence of loads of educational content but less of communication that speaks to the audience. We understood what had to be done. We are on a mission: 1) To create a conversation around infertility and treatments like IVF. 2) To use creativity, art and strategy to disrupt the way people perceive infertility and IVF. 3) To erase the stigma around infertility and treatments in India by 2035.

?? Sharing the incredible results of our 2019 pilot study for my new connections! ?? In this groundbreaking clinical trial, we focused on patients aged 36-44 facing various fertility challenges, including being labeled as 'poor responders' in IVF, having diminished ovarian reserve, premature ovarian failure, or experiencing at least one failed IVF cycle. The outcomes were truly remarkable: ? 80% of participants experienced a significant increase in the number of mature eggs and embryos, giving new hope on their journey to parenthood! ? In women who had been trying to conceive for approximately 2 years or more, a remarkable 30% achieved the dream of a live birth, offering renewed optimism for those who had faced previous setbacks. ???? Our mission is to continue making a positive impact on fertility treatments with the The Seed Fertility Program! Would love to connect with IVF doctor's around the country to talk about discounts for the seed program for your IVF patients! ???? #FertilityBreakthrough #HopeForParenthood #ClinicalTriumph" https://lnkd.in/eXsQerz3

My personal experience with IVF inspired me to support other women as a counsellor. While I've always helped people navigate life's challenges, my own fertility journey showed me how emotionally taxing IVF can be. The isolation, uncertainty, and lack of accessible support make this process even harder. Through my work, I combine professional counselling with the understanding that comes from having been through IVF myself. I recognise that IVF is more than just a medical process; it's an emotional rollercoaster that can leave women feeling lost and unsupported. That's why I’ve created an online seminar to help women undergoing IVF manage the emotional challenges of the Christmas season. This time of year can be particularly hard for those struggling with fertility issues, as family gatherings and social media often amplify feelings of grief and isolation. In this seminar, I’ll provide practical tools to navigate the holidays with more peace and emotional resilience. If you’re undergoing fertility treatment and find Christmas overwhelming, join my online seminar for support and guidance. Learn how to manage the emotional toll of the season while focusing on your own well-being. Just click on the QR code which will take through to the eventbrite link. Please do share far and wide! Infertility affects 1 in 6 couples and is on the increase in both the developed and developing world. You may have no idea what someone is going through due to the personal nature of fertility treatment. For more details, visit https://lnkd.in/ecdNZKE.
