Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15 by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. The observation started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period. It was enacted into law on August 17, 1988, on the approval of Public Law 100-402. September 15 is a day of significance because it is the anniversary of the independence for Latin American countries Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and September 18, respectively. As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month ??, it’s a reminder of the rich cultural diversity that strengthens not just our communities but our businesses as well. The contributions of the Hispanic community go beyond tradition, food, and language—they bring diverse perspectives, innovative ideas, and a resilient spirit that elevate every organization we are a part of. What we often see in inclusive workplaces is that inclusivity is contagious. When businesses make space for every voice at the table, the ripple effect is undeniable. Employees feel seen, valued, and empowered to bring their authentic selves to work. And when people feel like they truly belong, they contribute at their highest potential—driving innovation, creativity, and success. It’s not just about checking a box; it’s about creating an environment where everyone can thrive, and where diverse perspectives lead to better decision-making. Let’s use this month to honor the incredible impact of Hispanic culture and reflect on how inclusivity benefits us all—because when we lift each other up, we all rise together. ??? #HispanicHeritageMonth #Inclusivity #DiversityInBusiness #Leadership #StrongerTogether #Innovation

As we recognize Hispanic Heritage Month in the U.S. and Latin American Heritage Month in Canada, we're taking time to celebrate the contributions of our Latino colleagues and friends across North America. However, this recognition period is about more than just celebrating Hispanic and Latino history and achievements. It should also be used as an opportunity to evaluate the disparities that still exist for Latin Americans and understand how each of us can help promote equality, together.
