Towards the end of last year I posted this video over on Instagram and TikTok (yes, I’m on TikTok…) Hitting that post button was nerve-racking. Apart from some YouTube videos about working on my old Ford Capri back in 2016, I’d never spoken on camera like this. I was terrified. Of what, I don’t know. Ironic, considering that the message of my video was to put yourself out there, to share with the world what it is you want to do, to manifest your goals. So here I am, sharing it again, following my own advice, manifesting the heck out of my goals. I’m a designer and illustrator, looking to create strong logos and visual identities, visceral illustration and bold design, for those who want to cut through and stand out. I want to work even more within the realms that I'm passionate about, like video games, sci-fi, fantasy, metal music, retro cars, and all things nerdy. (But I love discovering new worlds and industries too!) I want to work closely with individuals, artists and teams to bring their projects to life. I want to create cool stuff with good people. When thinking about how to animate a logo, where to begin? I first start with what the brand is and use animation to visually reinforce what sort of products they serve. Just the logo animation should exemplify what kind of products it serves (hopefully) without even having to see a product. As HexClad is cookware brand, I chose fire as a lead component to help illustrate this premium cookware was made in the kitchen for the kitchen. The Hexagon is a strong / unique shape component that stands out in the logo design. It's very necessary to create a strong visual component around that shape that will "burn" into the viewers eye, so anytime they see that shape, boom they think of hexclad. The motion was inspired by the idea of being "forged from fire" - which shows its long lasting toughness and premium build. As always, it can be better - let me know your thoughts!

New Work - Revenant Brand Refresh Revenant are an award-winning VFX house who specialise in animation, motion, graphics and visuals. Revenant have worked on a number of amazing projects for broadcast, film, digital, experiential, games and commercials. Revenant approached us to revisit their existing brand, this started with firstly researching the meaning behind the name ‘Revenant’ which we found to mean "A person who has returned, supposedly from the dead." Through further research we were drawn to the symbolism of the number 8, tying back to both the letter count in Revenant, and its representation of death in Greek mythology. Working in collaboration with the talented team at Revenant we explored this idea and developed a custom word and logo marque, the double x element representing both the existing name with reference to death, while evoking gamer nostalgia, representing mortality in a video game. Once the initial brand route was developed, we began to look at print elements such as business cards and brochures. We wanted the business card to be playful and reflective of the business, so we made these customisable to add a personable element for each person. It was a pleasure to work on creating the new identity with Revenant and we are looking forward to continuing collaborating with the brand.
