Ohh, wow. You, you get like a whole cabin simulated here and everything, never mind the visuals. Yeah. So it's a real hardware and software in the loop simulator. So real fi computers using real software, real flight tech hardware. So this is actually technological development stuff. There's like a flat pack version of the avionics somewhere and racks and you're tuning the entire system end to end. Absolutely. This is one of our main simulation environments where we've got all of the different pieces of the aircraft coming together. To give U.S. data that we know the aircraft safe to fly, gives the FAA pilots data and how their aircraft handles all those sorts of things. Wow. And so I can have a go. Yeah. Yeah, Come on in. You know I'm not rated in rotorcraft, right? It's all good. OK well, let me get in here. It's going to be considered a powered lift. Really. Goodness. Let me try that. So you sit in there then these can slide in. Yeah. Can slide in that armrest. On your armrest. OK. And there's. Handle, if you pull that, you can slide yourself forward. Is there a place I grip Ohh, there we go. And so the petals petals are only for hydraulic brakes OK, so you don't really need to use those. So there are wheels on this right? So you can tax around on the ground. I guess you can OK the kind of conops for the aircraft are vertical takeoff and landing. Yep, but it can do conventional takeoff and landing as a normal operation OK, if you like so it looks like a standard Garmin panel here that you set up. With your own software? Yep. Garmin G3000 hardware Software. Because we've got our own systems on the aircraft. Yeah. 12 electric motors, 6 batteries, all of that. OK, But the idea is with all of those redundant propulsion systems, it's too complicated to control manually, right? So the aircraft is fly by wire. It's centrally like augmented controls in all states of flight, so you don't have to worry about a throttle for engine #7 you basically tell airplane what you want to do. And then it figures out how to do it. OK yeah, right hand is yeah, like vertical. Yep. And then y'all left and right and left hand is you can think of it like 4. And after you translate left and right in this phase of flight. OK, so we're coming up. I see we're moving forward. So I'm going to bring up to traffic altitude by this. And that rules me, OK. And that is my rotation. So there we go. OK, so now fly forwards. So we're in Hoover. Right, Yeah. OK. So, so we should probably get to some altitude here, right. So the normal way you would fly the aircraft is you would pick up off the ground and then start to accelerate right forward into forward. So if I'm pushing this forward, we're in hover mode and it's limiting my speeds to very, very slow. So is there so we're in hover mode that your speed to 30 knots. So the way to transition most efficiently is there's a hat switch with a thumb switch on your left stick. So if you press forward on this guy. OK, put you in automatic like outbound acceleration. So now I can actually go faster. I can pull back on the right stick to lift up. Yeah. So this will take you out to essentially cruise speed. OK, so it's, I'm seeing my airspeed is alive coming up 67 knots. Yep, this will take you to about 90 knots. And so now it's because the wing lifts kicking in, it's now pitching up in steady and the props have come down, correct. So the aircraft kind of manages all of that for you. So you can see now the engines. Tilted forward. OK, so you're essentially flying like any other fixed wing aircraft right now. And so in this mode, your right hand still does the same thing. So like 4 and aft with your right hand. Okay, is pitch select climb rate up and down? Yep. And then and then no, this is become role. Now it's coordinated turn. Basically it's coordinated turn. OK, so let's meet 120 knots. Yeah, seems reasonable. So you're left stick in this mode. You can think of it like a throttle for an aft and then it side slip, left and right side slip. You don't really need to use it in this mode. Yeah, lying on the ground, that's much more useful because you're translating, right? If you're if you're translating or you're trying to track into a target. Yeah. This is Salinas we're at right. And so we're flying out towards Monterey Bay. That's right. So if you wanted to make a turn like back towards the airport, either left or right, you can kind of get a sense for how that feels. But we're now doing this at 100 knots and we've translated fully to I should probably bring the nose down. Let's keep it at 1000. That's a nice 30?? turn. Let's bring this out a little more. OK, so there's like a so there are those purple things on magenta supposed to simulate like a hypothetical approach. So yeah, there's various like these ones here. Yeah. So there's various graphics that simulate either like a three degree glide slope or a 7?? glide slope, right. So I see certain like kind of pilot like task elements to verify handling qualities, etc. But let's try. So should I try flying down this corridor? So you're welcome to. If you basically set yourself up on like a standard 3?? glide slope towards the airport, Yep, then what you'll do is maybe at about 250 feet above the ground, you can use that same switch that you pressed forward, but you can pull it back and do kind of automatic deceleration, OK to first click Vref, which is about 90 dots, OK, And then second click would take you back to hover mode automatically. So they used Garmin Avionics for the panel, which I had. Fair amount of experience in the service and that was easy enough. You see me actually adjusting my altitude and heading on the autopilot. Not that I was using the autopilot, but it's sort of things that I had learned to do while flying. What I had found initially difficult was that in most of the aircraft I've flown, the pitch and roll is controlled with by my left hand and the throttle is the right hand. So these have been swapped for this, but of course right hand on stick and left hand on throttle is more common in single pilot. Aircraft where you've got a hand on throttle and stick or HOTAS right Flying this was much more like flying a spacecraft into video game, and I've got a lot of experience doing that. The big difference with the video games is that I would have 2-3 access controllers, whereas this only gave me two access controllers. There was no twist to y'all on the right stick. Instead, the stick behavior changes depending upon how fast you're going. 200 feet AGL can see your rate. Radar. Ultimately. Yep. Right. A radar. Yep, that's right. Good. OK, yeah, let's just get this nicely in here. It's weird not using the pedals. OK, yeah, so they give it like flying a video game instead of, yeah, an airplane. Well, I do a lot of video game flying, so my approach speed on final should be what? I mean. This is fine for now. Okay, Vref is like 90 knots, but OK, this is totally fine. So when going fast, if you pull back, the nose will pitch up and climb. But when you're going slow, if you pull back, then it climbs by translating vertically with no pitch change. So you're saying at about 200 feet, start pulling it back and then 200 to about 200 feet AGL. You can using the same switch. Switch back. OK. And so that'll start my DSL. Yeah. Yeah, We'll begin the transition. That will engage like an automatic transition back to hover mode. OK. And that's not the only way to do it, but that's kind of a straightforward way, Right. OK. Well, I'm coming down. This is runway 1313. Yeah, There we go. So begin the transition. I think I'm a little low here. Yeah. And so you can still modify your flight path angle with that. Hit the switch back one more time. Yeah, there we go. So you can still modify the flight path angle with the, you know, sticks as you would normally, but it's going to take care of all of the decelerating for you. OK, come on, come on. Start, start, start, start there. You can be like, you can be pretty hands off like in this, in this phase, right? So yeah, you can see all the tilts are pretty much back. So now we're down. So we're going to cover a little short, so short. So now you can use that left stick forward to translate forward. Yep. And you know, right on the runway threshold there's a landing pad. See the helipad there you could target. Just feeling my batteries just draining. Yeah. Aircraft uses about four or five times more power in hover than it does in right cruise. That's where your rate. Yeah. You know, here's the thing. I'm cooling back to land here. Yeah. So here you kind of want to go, like, if you ever get confused, you can always just go hands off, right. And the nice things. Aircraft always brings you back to hover. But here it's just small inputs. And then the other thing you can do is there's these hat switches can be used for justice, very small incremental adjustments. So if you want to just modify your heading slightly or do like a sidestep left or right, you can actually use that hat switch with your left thumb and just bump the aircraft 2 feet right or left or two feet forward or aft. OK, here we go, just slightly gentle.
