The world's fastest rocket-powered aircraft is the hypersonic North American X-15, which holds the official world record for the highest speed ever recorded by a manned, powered aircraft. This remarkable achievement was set by pilot William J. Knight, who reached a speed of Mach 6.70 (4,520 mph) at an altitude of 102,100 feet on October 3, 1967. The X-15 program significantly advanced our understanding of high-speed flight and contributed valuable data for future aircraft and spacecraft designs. #military #defense #defence #aerospace #aviation #aircraft #aircrafts #airplane #airplanes #aviationlovers #militaryaviation #militaryaircraft #fighterjet #engineering #technology #militarytechnology #defensetechnology #defenseinnovation #defenseindustry #airforce #pilots

19 August 1960: Discoverer XIV was a Keyhole KH-1 reconnaissance satellite of Project CORONA. Mission 9009 was launched by a Thor-Agena A two-stage liquid-fueled rocket from Vandenberg Air Force Base, California, at 11:55 p.m. Pacific Standard Time on 18 August 1960 (19:55:00 UTC). The Agena A entered an elliptical orbit of 186 kilometers by 805 kilometers (115.6 miles by 500.2 miles), inclined at 79.650°, and the satellite took 1 hour, 34 minutes, and 33 seconds to complete each orbit. After 17 orbits, 7 of which crossed over "denied territory," the Discoverer Satellite Reentry Vehicle (SRV) was ejected from the Agena A and de-orbited. This ejection occurred within 5 seconds of the planned time. On 19 August, a Fairchild C-119J Flying Boxcar, 51-8037, call sign Pelican 9, from the 6593rd Test Squadron at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii, was dispatched to recover the satellite as it descended through the lower atmosphere by parachute. The aircrew sighted the parachute at about 8,000 feet (2,438 meters), 360 miles (580 kilometers) southwest of Hawaii. On their third attempt, they successfully snagged the satellite and parachute with recovery equipment deployed under the transport and then pulled it inside. This marked the first time that film from a satellite had been recovered. #military #defense #defence #aerospace #aviation #aircraft #aircrafts #airplane #airplanes #aviationlovers #militaryaviation #militaryaircraft #fighterjet #engineering #technology #militarytechnology #defensetechnology #defenseinnovation #defenseindustry #airforce #pilots

CABIN PRESSURERIZED ?? There are a few types of pressurization systems: Isobaric: The most common system, where cabin pressure is maintained at a constant value regardless of the outside air pressure. Isobaric Differential: Military fighter aircraft begin pressurization on ascent until the cabin reaches a pre-set altitude. If the altitude is reached, a constant pressure differential is maintained in correlation with the ambient pressure outside the airplane. Sealed Cabin: Used in spacecraft only, where the vessel carries its own supply of gases.

The supersonic and hypersonic aircraft market, encompassing the production, sales, and services of aircraft capable of surpassing the speed of sound (supersonic) or achieving extremely high speeds (hypersonic), has witnessed significant growth in recent years. This surge is attributed to technological advancements, heightened demand for swift travel, and substantial government investments. Supersonic aircraft, capable of exceeding Mach 1 (about 767 miles per hour), and hypersonic aircraft, reaching speeds beyond Mach 5 (approximately 3,836 miles per hour), are at the forefront of innovation. The commercial sector is particularly intrigued by supersonic travel for long-haul flights, with companies actively developing passenger aircraft that promise reduced flight times and enhanced efficiency compared to conventional subsonic counterparts. Regionally, North America and Europe exhibit steady growth, propelled by government initiatives and rising consumer awareness, while Asia-Pacific, notably China, leads the global market with robust domestic demand, supportive policies, and a strong manufacturing base. The supersonic and hypersonic aircraft market, segmented by type and application, anticipates substantial growth from 2024 to 2031, with precise calculations and forecasts for consumption value in terms of volume and value across different segments. #hyperfast #HYPERIANAerospace #airsupremacy www.hyperianaero.com #NGAD?#hypersonic?#missiles?#usnavy?#airforce?#usarmy?#spaceforce?#HYPERJet?#HYPERMissile?#HYPERBomber?#HYPERLiner?#hydrogen?#aerospace?#spaceflight?#airsuperiority?#NASA?#BLACKSTAR

This is the Blohm und Voss NV138MS Sea Dragon with a Directional Wireless Installation. The aircraft was designed in the 1930s but was later modified with this weird ring that could force magnetic mines to detonate as it flew over. They attached an aluminum coil inside a balsa wood ring and when power was fed to the coil, it generated a magnetic field strong enough to trigger magnetic mines. The aircraft had to fly slow and low (like between 60 - 35 feet AGL!), but fast and far enough away to not be damaged by the explosion. I wouldn't have wanted to be the first to test that ratio. Does anyone know if there are any of these aircraft left? Have you seen one? Boeing and the U.S. Air Force seal a $2.56 billion contract for the development and delivery of two cutting-edge E-7A Wedgetail Airborne Early Warning and Control aircraft. This deal encompasses lifecycle development, training, and support for the U.S. E-7A fleet. The E-7A Wedgetail, already operational in the Royal Australian Air Force, Republic of Korea Air Force, and Turkish Air Force, is recognized for its advanced tracking and battle management command-and-control features. In addition, Boeing is currently producing three more E-7As for the Royal Air Force, with ongoing modifications happening in the UK. Notably, the Royal Air Force, Royal Australian Air Force, and U.S. Air Force have joined forces in a tri-lateral cooperation agreement to collaborate on the development, testing, and operational integration of the E-7A capabilities. The E-7A Wedgetail, built on the Boeing 737-700 Next Generation airframe, is equipped to offer comprehensive battle management, surveillance, and command-and-control capabilities. Its key component, the Multi-role Electronically Scanned Array (MESA) radar, enables simultaneous tracking of airborne and maritime targets. With the MESA radar fixed atop the fuselage, the E-7A can scan vast airspace volumes efficiently, supporting enhanced target tracking and engagement capabilities over traditional rotating radar systems. This advancement empowers forces to swiftly detect and respond to threats with heightened speed and precision. #technology #aerospace #space #spacemission #moon #rocket #rockets #spaceexploration #aerospace #satellite #satellites #spacetechnology #spaceinnovation #spacecraft #spacenews #spacestation #uk #australia #southkorea #turkey

This article in Air & Space Forces Magazine talks about Collaborative Combat Aircraft, or CCAs, as a key area that needs near-term propulsion support to reach affordable mass goals. “That’s where commercial-off-the-shelf comes in. We have a stable of engines at Pratt & Whitney that can provide various levels of thrust that can be pulled off of a production line today and inserted into a [CCA]. So that’s going to take care of the speed element,” Flynn said. #wearePW https://lnkd.in/gvMxfYM3
